Storm vs Rabbitohs Prediction: 9/4 pick as Storm stare at sixth straight setback

Two NRL coaching greats go head-to-head once more on Saturday when Craig Bellamy’s Melbourne Storm host the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Wayne Bennett at AAMI Park (20:10 local, 11:10 BST, Sky Sports Action).
The Storm’s current five-game losing run is their first such streak since 2012, and another defeat would match a club record set in 2002. My Storm vs Rabbitohs predictions, full team news and Betfred’s match odds all follow below.

Despite their recent travails, the Storm are Betfred’s favourites for the win at 8/13. The Bunnies are 7/5 to triumph, and it’s 16/1 about the draw in regular time.
Betfred has two Price Boosts available, with 9/4 quoted for both sides to register 20 points and 2/1 about both Will Warbrick and Latrell Mitchell crossing for tries.
Team News
Melbourne are unchanged, with Bellamy deciding against any kneejerk reactions to their latest loss against the Raiders in Round 7.
Manaia Waitere started on the wing and Nick Meaney in the centres last week, but they have been named in reverse for Saturday’s clash. They could well alternate again once kick-off time comes round.
Bennett names Brandon Smith in the second row and Bronson Garlick at nine for the Rabbitohs.
Euan Aitken could return, with the centre named among the interchanges option after recovering from a leg injury which has kept him out for five weeks.
Rabbitohs to Win @ 7/5
It feels wrong to be tipping the Storm to record a sixth straight loss for just the second time in their history, and I certainly wouldn’t have been doing so half-a-dozen weeks back. But the evidence suggests all is not quite right down in Melbourne.
While they were better last week, they still went down to a far-from-convincing Raiders, who themselves have struggled for most of 2026 so far.
And the Bunnies have shown great resilience to this point, and none of their games have been walkovers for either side.
They have battled for everything they have achieved, and if they have that same fight about them in East Melbourne then they can definitely pick up the two competition points.

Both Teams to Score 20+ Points @ 9/4
Three of the Storm’s seven games so far have seen both sides clear 20 points, and the same can be said of three of the Rabbitohs’ first half-dozen. In an age of increased ruck infringement calls, points are there to be scored.
So the Price Boost Betfred is offering at 9/4 for the two sides to rack up 20-plus is very favourable. That 17.4% implied probability is miniscule compared to the Storm’s 42.8% conversion rate in this category and the Bunnies’ 50%.
