The Premier League returns this weekend after a lengthy absence due to the international break and the FA Cup quarter-finals, with teams now set for the final run-in.

Crystal Palace have been in action in the Europa League, beating Fiorentina 3-0 on Thursday night, while Newcastle haven’t played since losing the Tyne-Wear derby to Sunderland. Below you can find my Crystal Palace vs Newcastle (14:00 BST, Sky Sports Action) predictions featuring team news and more, as we look to land a winner.

Team News

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner named an incredibly strong side for the 3-0 win over Fiorentina, and he may be tempted to name an unchanged XI for this Premier League encounter. The only question mark comes around Evann Guessand, who was taken off with a knock, so Yeremy Pino should start in his place.

Fitness shouldn’t be too much of an issue after an extended break, so goalscorers Jean-Philippe Mateta, Ismaila Sarr and Tyrick Mitchell should all start, with Jorden Strand Larsen potentially having to settle for a spot on the bench. Daichi Kamada and Adam Wharton should retain their places at the heart of the midfield.

Eddie Howe confirmed he will be without two key players for the trip to the capital.

"We have mixed injury news during the break. Bruno [Guimaraes] suffered on his return from Brazil with illness, that has delayed his return, doubt over this game and the Bournemouth game, maybe he will be back for Arsenal.

"Fabian Schär suffered an infection in his foot so he is in hospital having a minor surgery on that so he will be out for about a month. Everyone else, I think we are good."

Lewis Miley is one of those who is back fit and could be involved at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Odds

Crystal Palace are priced at 21/10 to win this game, with Newcastle up at 5/4 to take the points. That gives the away side an implied win probability of 44%, while a draw is priced at 13/5.

Over 2.5 goals is 8/11, BTTS is 8/13 and Mateta is the favourite to score first at 9/2.

 Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Stats

  • Crystal Palace have lost one of their last four PL fixtures
  • Newcastle have lost their last two games in all competitions
  • There have been six red cards in the last eight Crystal Palace games

Crystal Palace to win and BTTS @ 4/1

Crystal Palace got the boost they needed on Thursday night in the Conference League, and that is a competition they could well go on to win this season. In the Premier League, they will want to show an improvement on their 14th-place standing, but they have now only lost one of their last four league encounters - to Manchester United.

The countdown to Glasner’s exit still looms, but Palace always seem to turn up after the March international break. Meanwhile Newcastle don’t look quite right at the moment, having been battered by Barcelona, and then beaten by Sunderland. Both teams to score has landed in 15 of their last 16 Newcastle games, so I think that should come in again, but without Bruno, I think the Geordies are set to lose again.

A red card - Yes @ 7/2

Crystal Palace’s matches lately have seen a bit of a trend of red cards, so I think it may well be worth backing the referee to pull out some rouge in this one. There have been a remarkable six red cards across Palace’s last eight fixtures in all competitions, with AEK Larnaca (x2), Wolves, Leeds and Tottenham all seeing red.

The Eagles also had Maxence Lacroix sent off at Old Trafford, while Newcastle also went down to 10 against the same opponent in early March. I think this is a good price given the recent patterns we have seen from Palace in particular.
