Lucky 15 Tips: Good time to catch course specialist

The Flat is back on Saturday afternoon with the traditional season opener, Doncaster's Lincoln meeting. The Lincoln is part of an eight-race card that also includes the Cammidge Stakes and the Doncaster Mile Stakes.

We have picked out four selections for our Lucky 15 tips from across the card on Saturday including a course specialist that looks capable of another big run.

13:50 Doncaster - Spycatcher @ 4/1

This looks like a decent renewal of the Cammidge Stakes, but it will be used as a stepping stone for plenty of these and that's certainly not the case for last year’s winner, SPYCATCHER, who took this out on last season’s reappearance.

He won this on the back of a five-month break last year and looked as good as ever when winning another course and distance Listed race towards the end of the campaign.

Given his preference for plenty of cut in the ground, he's often primed to be at his best either side of the summer months, so this looks like the right time to catch him and it's a slight surprise he's not the outright favourite for this given his course record.

His main market rival, Montassib, has class but nothing went right for him last season and he's on something of a retrieval mission on his seasonal return here.

14:25 Doncaster - On The River @ 16/1

In the Spring Mile, ON THE RIVER is lurking towards the bottom of the weights and decent odds.

He's another selection that is well suited to some cut in the ground and he ran a cracker on his only other appearance on Doncaster's straight track.

His seasonal reappearance form figures read 152 since joining this yard so expect him to be tuned up for this and he's become dangerously well treated on old form.

15:05 Curragh - Ten Bob Tony @ 4/1

It will be fascinating to see how the 2,000 Guineas ante post favourite, Albert Einstein runs in the Gladness Stakes but he could need this run and he faces some tough opposition in the form of TEN BOB TONY.

He was placed in last season's Group 1 Prix de la Foret before finding the drop to 6f against him at Ascot, but he's won on his two previous seasonal returns and can bounce back up in trip getting his preferred ground conditions.

15:32 Doncaster - La Botte @ 7/2

The run of LA BOTTE in last month's Lincoln trial and Wolverhampton could hardly have been any more eye-catching and he looks like he's a long way ahead of the handicapper at present.

This unexposed sort was unlucky when just touched off in the Britannia Stakes last season and there's nothing wrong with a 5lb rise for that effort.

His running style wasn't suited to Wolverhampton when coming from rear, but he finished off particularly strongly and the straight track at Doncaster is going to be more to his liking.

If all four selections won, at the quoted prices, a 50p Lucky 15 (total stake £7.50) would return around £1,781.50.
