Bolivia vs Suriname Odds

Bolivia are 13/10 to win this World Cup intercontinental play-off while Suriname are 11/5 shots. The draw is available at 21/10.

Over 2.5 goals is 5/4, while both teams to score is 1/1 and it is 9/4 for over 1.5 first-half goals.

Team News

Bolivia left out their veteran striker and record goalscorer Marcelo Martins Moreno for this play-off, instead pinning their goalscoring hopes on Miguel Terceros, who netted seven times in qualifying.

Suriname have been boosted by calling up Leeds star Joel Piroe and LASK defender Melayro Bogarde for their first caps.

Bolivia @ 13/10

Much of Bolivia’s success in World Cup qualifying came on home soil thanks to La Paz's unique climate and altitude.

They took 17 of their 20 points at home but despite that, they may be too strong for this Suriname side when they meet in Guadalupe, Mexico.

The Green Guardians are ranked 123rd in the world and have never qualified for the World Cup. It is impressive that they have gotten this far, considering their population of just over half a million people, but their limitations could become evident in this one.

Suriname were beaten 3-1 by Guatemala last time out. They have called up some bigger names for this clash but still look to be lacking a touch of quality which La Verde may possess.

Under 1.5 goals @ 13/8

With the stakes as high as they are for this World Cup intercontinental play-off, a cagey affair looks likely. Bolivia scored just 17 goals in 18 qualifying games, sneaking through thanks to a 1-0 win over Brazil in their final match.

They are not the most prolific side and the same can be said for Suriname, who have played out two goalless draws in their last seven games.

They failed to score in two of their three group games at last summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup and with the pressure on, both teams may be more pragmatic in their approach.

Expect Bolivia to have more of the ball and they may find it tough to break down a solid Suriname back-line containing the likes of former Middlesbrough and Charlton defender Anfernee Dijksteel.

The likelihood is that a low-scoring affair will ensue, and a single goal might be enough to decide this one.
