Arsenal and Chelsea lock horns on Tuesday in the first leg of their Uefa Champions League quarter-final tie at the Emirates Stadium (20:00 GMT, BBC Two). The Gunners have won each of their last seven matches across all competitions, including a victory at Chelsea in the Women's Super League.

Team News

Arsenal's vice-captain Leah Williamson is a doubt to feature because of a hamstring issue that kept her out of Saturday's 5-0 thrashing of West Ham. Illness kept Frida Maanum out of that match but she could be in contention to return to the squad on Tuesday.

The hosts remain without the services of long-term absentees Manuela Zinsberger and Katie Reid. Steph Catley, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Caitlin Foord were involved in Saturday's Asia Cup final with Australia on Saturday, so they face a tight turnaround to be involved against Chelsea.

Football Odds

Nathalie Bjorn, Niamh Charles, Catarina Macario and Mayra Ramirez are all out injured for Chelsea. Millie Bright has been out of action for the Blues' last five matches with an ankle issue.

After being forced off in the draw with London City last time out, Aggie Beever-Jones will need to be assessed ahead of Tuesday.

Ellie Carpenter and forward Sam Kerr were also representing Australia at the weekend so they too are considered doubts.

Arsenal vs Chelsea Predicted Lineups

  • Arsenal: Borbe; Holmberg, Wubben-Moy, Codina, McCabe; Little, Caldentey; Smith, Russo, Kelly; Blackstenius
  • Chelsea: Hampton; Bronze, Buchanan, Girma, Baltimore; Walsh, Cuthbert; Rytting Kaneryd, Kaptein, James; Thompson

Arsenal vs Chelsea Odds

Arsenal are 11/10, which has an implied probability of 47.6%, to make it eight consecutive victories in all competitions.

The Gunners salvaged a late draw when they hosted Chelsea in the WSL back in November, and the stalemate here is priced at 5/2.

Chelsea have won five of their past six competitive matches and they are 11/5 to prevail in this first leg.

The previous three meetings between the two sides have gone under 2.5 goals, which is valued on this occasion at 1/1.

 Arsenal vs Chelsea Stats

  • Arsenal have won each of their last 7 competitive matches
  • They were 2-0 victors at Chelsea in their latest meeting in January
  • Arsenal have kept clean sheets in 6 games of their winning streak

Match Result - Arsenal @ 11/10

As the defending champions, Arsenal are looking to defend their crown and so they will look to utilise the home leg to give themselves a big advantage in the tie. With this being an all-English affair, both sides are well-accustomed to how one another play and seeing as Arsenal did beat Chelsea away from home during their current hot streak, I have to fancy them on home turf.

Not only have the Gunners been strong going forward, they have also shown resilience defensively. They have conceded just one goal in the last seven games, so Chelsea are facing a tough task to try and break the hosts down. I am confident that we will see Arsenal gain the advantage in this first leg.

Clean Sheet - Arsenal @ 2/1

I believe there is also value to be had in covering the Gunners to keep a clean sheet. In their impressive seven-game winning run, they have kept six clean sheets and conceded just one goal. One of those shutouts did come against Chelsea away from home in the WSL, so I do think Arsenal are capable of blunting the Blues' attacking stars once again.
