Wrexham racecourse

After losing at home to Norwich City on Saturday, Wrexham will look for a response when they welcome Leicester City to the Racecourse on Tuesday (20:00 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event) in the Championship.

The Foxes head here off the back of a defeat at Coventry City last time out. Below you will find my Wrexham vs Leicester predictions, including the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Wrexham are missing Elliot Lee, Aaron James (both knee), Lewis Brunt (thigh), Danny Ward (elbow) and Andy Cannon (cruciate ligament) due to injury.

Kieffer Moore will be looking to reclaim the centre-forward role, but Sam Smith has been in good form in recent weeks and should hold onto his place in the team.

Football Odds

Leicester's Aaron Ramsey is set to miss out with a hamstring problem he picked up over the festive period. Harry Souttar (Achilles) and Victor Kristiansen (knee) are also absent for the visitors.

Jordan James, on loan from Rennes, scored his ninth league goal of the campaign against Coventry, and he is set to continue in midfield in north Wales.

Today's Football Fixtures

Wrexham vs Leicester Odds

With four wins from five matches in the Championship heading into this game, Wrexham are an appealing 5/4 (implied probability of 44.4%) to come out on top.

The Red Dragons have experienced five stalemates in 14 home appearances in the league and the stalemate is valued at 12/5.

Leicester are 11/5 to claim the victory, having won two of their last four matches in the second tier.

Kieffer Moore has 10 goals in the league for Wrexham and he is 8/5 to score anytime.

Wrexham vs Leicester Stats

  • Wrexham have won four of their past five league matches
  • Sam Smith (WRE) has scored in three successive Championship games

Match Result - Wrexham @ 5/4

The home defeat to Norwich last time out was surprising, particularly as Wrexham had lost just two home matches in the Championship before the weekend. The Red Dragons will look to ensure they don't fall to a defeat in successive home games when Leicester come to town on Tuesday.

Phil Parkinson and his players will be fired up to deliver a swift response in midweek, and they should fancy their chances against a team who have lost half (7/14) of their away fixtures in the second tier this term, including each of their previous three.

The Foxes have also lost four of their last six outings in the league heading to the Racecourse, and with Wrexham having four wins in five heading into Tuesday, they have far greater momentum than their visitors.

Defeats at home are rare for the Red Dragons, while Leicester are used to losing on their travels, so the home win makes the most sense in my eyes.

Anytime Goalscorer - Sam Smith @ 7/4

Wrexham striker Smith has mostly found game time limited in the Championship this season but he has recently been handed opportunities to lead the line and he has grasped his chance with both hands.

The former Reading man has completed 90 minutes for the last three matches in the league, scoring in each contest against Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and Norwich. With Moore back in the picture, many people will expect Smith to drop down to the bench but his current form will give Parkinson a headache.

The forward is on a roll right now and the Wrexham boss is likely wary of disrupting it. In his current mood, he will pose a big threat to Leicester, who are going through a difficult spell and who tend to struggle on their travels.

His 7/4 price to score looks more than fair to me.
