Team News
Goalkeeper Pierce Charles is sidelined for Sheffield Wednesday with a shoulder injury. The Owls are also looking light defensively with Di'Shon Bernard (knee), Dominic Iorfa, Liam Cooper (both groin), Max Lowe (calf) and Ernie Weaver (foot) all out of action.
Bruno Fernandes (leg), Guilherme Siqueira (Achilles), Olaf Kobacki (groin), Rio Shipston, George Brown, Nathaniel Chalobah and Ike Ugbo (all hamstring) are also currently in the medical bay for the hosts, so their squad is threadbare right now.
Birmingham are missing Ethan Laird (hamstring), Alex Cochrane (ankle), Demarai Gray (calf) and Jack Robinson (hamstring) due to injury. The Blues are currently light at full-back, with midfielder Tomoki Iwata having to fill in for a lot of the season so far.
Bright Osayi-Samuel is expected back from Africa Cup of Nations duty but it remains to be seen if the Nigerian full-back will be involved on Tuesday.
The visitors could be set to hand a debut to new midfielder Jhon Solis, who signed on loan from Girona, but it looks likely that he will start the game on the bench. Another player hoping to make his debut will be winger Ibrahim Osman, who signed on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday.
After being used as a substitute against Swansea City last time out, Jay Stansfield will be pushing for a return to the XI, likely at the expense of Kyogo Furuhashi.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham Predicted Lineups
- Sheffield Wednesday: Cooper; Valery, Otegbayo, Palmer; Fusire, Thornton, Bannan, Ingelsson, Alao; Cadamarteri, McNeill
- Birmingham: Beadle; Iwata, Neumann, Klarer, Wagner; Paik, Doyle; Roberts, Stansfield, Koumas; Ducksch
Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham Odds
Wednesday have just one league win all season and they are 11/2 to beat the Blues, who are considerably weaker on their travels than at home.
The two teams shared a draw at St. Andrew's back in September and the same outcome on this occasion is priced at 3/1.
Birmingham are 8/15 (implied probability of 65.2%) to come away with the three points, but they have just two wins from their 14 road trips in the Championship this term.
Stansfield is the favourite to score anytime at 5/4, having bagged in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham Stats
- Under 3.5 goals has landed in Wednesday's past four league games
- There have been fewer than four goals in six of Birmingham's last seven Championship matches
- Marvin Ducksch (BIR) has three goals in as many appearances in all competitions heading into Tuesday
Match Result & Over/Under 3.5 Goals - Birmingham & Under @ 23/20
Given Sheffield Wednesday's abundance of issues on and off the pitch right now, it would be pretty damning of Birmingham not to profit at Hillsbrough on Tuesday.
The Blues have the chance to try and turn the tide when it comes to their atrocious away form. They earned a hard-fought point at Swansea on Saturday and while there are still plenty of improvements needed on the road, it was a step in the right direction.
Against a team with one win all season and an extremely depleted squad, anything less than three points will not be good for boss Chris Davies, who has come under scrutiny this season.
The West Midlands outfit have already been busy in the transfer window, bringing in two players so far as three have been moved on, while there is likely to be a lot more activity over the next two weeks.
With more first-team regulars at their disposal, in a game they are expected to win, I think Birmingham will be able to dig deep for that rare away victory - although I am not expecting many goals.
Under 3.5 has landed in six of their past seven outings in the second tier, while this market has been successful in each of Wednesday's previous four appearances in the Championship.

Anytime Goalscorer - Marvin Ducksch @ 11/8
It was Marvin Ducksch's clever flick that teed up Patrick Roberts to net the equaliser at Swansea and that makes it four goal involvements in his last three competitive matches for Birmingham.
The German has shown his intelligence on the pitch, linking up with his teammates and helping create chances as well as score them. He bagged his second brace of the campaign in the home win against league leaders Coventry City, scoring a sublime volley to open proceedings in that contest.
He then netted what proved to be the winning goal in the FA Cup win at Cambridge United before assisting Roberts at Swansea. He's in a good mood right now, and I believe there's value in backing him to find the net in South Yorkshire.
