It has been all change at Madrid this week but removing a manager is one thing, losing to a LaLiga 2 side in the Copa del Rey is quite another. The pressure is ramping up and fans are not happy. A home game against second-from-bottom Levante is exactly the type of fixture they need. LaLiga TV is the channel to turn to for UK viewers with live coverage from 13:00 on Saturday afternoon.

Our Madrid-based La Liga correspondent takes on this match. He previews the action ahead of Friday's match as he brings us the Team News, Match Odds and his two Best Bets for the match. Let's check out his Real Madrid vs Levante Predictions here on Betfred Insights...

Match Preview:

Real Madrid play their first league game since sacking Xabi Alonso this weekend. Levante are the visitors to the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday lunchtime, but it's the home players who could be in for a frosty welcome from their own supporters.

While it's true that few followers of Los Blancos would have been impressed by what they saw during Alonso's brief tenure, they had not yet turned on their now ex-coach. The perception was that the players were not working hard enough, and in some cases not even interested in adapting to the methods of the 44-year-old.

There were even public displays of disrespect towards Alonso, most notably from Vinícius Júnior, who has been jeered on his last two outings at the Bernabéu. He almost certainly won't be the only one to get that treatment on Saturday, after a dismal week that saw Real Madrid lose the Supercopa final 3-2 against Barcelona, before being dumped out of the Copa del Rey by the same scoreline against second-tier strugglers Albacete.

That was Álvaro Arbeloa's first match at the helm. The former B-team boss was promoted to the top job following the dismissal of Alonso. He is well thought of at boardroom level, but no contract length has been formally announced, which suggests he will need to impress if he's to be in the job beyond the rest of this campaign.

He couldn't realistically have made a worse start. The 42-year-old opted to rest the likes of Jude Bellingham and Thibaut Courtois at the Estádio Carlos Belmonte. However, it is worth noting that Albacete also made eight changes for the game, as they prioritised their bid to stay in the Segunda División.

A shocking performance from Los Blancos resulted in a humiliating defeat against a team that had never previously beaten them. It's safe to say that Arbeloa needs a positive reaction from his players against Levante this weekend.

Anything short of a win would be a disastrous outcome for Real Madrid, as they bid to stay in touch with in-form Barça in the Spanish title race. However, they can expect few favours from a Levante side that has made a positive start to life under the recently-appointed Luís Castro.

The Portuguese coach oversaw a 3-0 victory at Sevilla in his first match earlier this month. The Valencia club are now unbeaten in three league games overall, after a 1-1 draw at home to Espanyol last weekend.

It was always going to be a struggle on their return to the top flight after three years in the Segunda División. They remain winless at home, and were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid in the reverse fixture back in September. However, some strong away performances have given Los Granotes hope in their fight for survival.

They're carrying enough of a threat in the final third to ask questions of most opponents. 22-year-old Karl Etta Eyong has been a revelation up front, scoring five times since a late move from Villarreal in the summer. He's now back from AFCON duty with Cameroon, in a further boost for the new boss.

Castro has also shown real faith in loanee Iker Losada, in one of the most notable shifts of his short reign to date. The 24-year-old has responded positively with goals in back-to-back matches.

Team News:

Real Madrid are missing defenders Éder Militão, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Antonio Rüdiger, and Ferland Mendy to injury, while Brahim Díaz will take part in the AFCON final this weekend with Morocco.

They also have fitness doubts over Kylian Mbappé and Rodrygo. Their final lineup will depend on whether either of those players recover in time for this early kick-off. In-form youngster Gonzalo García is on standby again, in case Mbappé isn't deemed ready to start up top.

As for Levante, they've got four injury absentees. Winger Roger Brugué has been ruled out for the rest of the season, after tearing his ACL. Meanwhile, Víctor García, Diego Pampín and Unai Elgezabal will also miss the trip to the Spanish capital.

Etta Eyong was only on the bench last time out, but will be pushing for a starting role again, while Manu Sánchez is expected to replace the injured Pampín at left-back.

Real Madrid vs Levante Predicted Lineups

  • Real Madrid: Courtois, Carvajal, Asencio, Huijsen, Carreras, Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Mbappe, Vinicius
  • Levante: Ryan, Toljan, De la Fuente, Moreno, Pampin, Martinez, Arriaga, Eyong, Alvarez, Losada, Romero

Match Odds:

Real Madrid are the 1/7 favourites to bounce back from a miserable week with a victory. You can back the Draw at 7/1, while Levante are priced at 14/1 to record a famous upset.

Los Granotes have won 2-1 on two of their last four visits to this ground, and they are priced at 7/2 to score over 1.5 goals on Saturday. Both teams to score is on offer at 4/5, while you can back Levante to win either half at 4/1.

Alternatively, if you're expecting a big response from the hosts, Real Madrid -2.0 Handicap is priced at 21/20. Arbeloa's side are available at 19/20 to win the game to nil. They can also be backed at 11/8 to score over 3.5 goals.

While it's unclear who will start up front and on the right flank for Madrid, Vinícius and Bellingham both look sure to feature from the off. You can back the Brazilian to score first at 7/2, or anytime at 5/6. Bellingham is on offer at 23/20 as an anytime goalscorer bet.

From a visiting perspective, Etta Eyong is available at 3/1 to score anytime, while in-form Losada can be backed at 9/2 in the same market.

Real Madrid vs Levante Stats

  • Only Barcelona (19.32) have more shots/90 than Real Madrid (18.95). Levante are towards the bottom at 9.94.
  • Jude Bellingham (54.8%) is the only players in either side to have more than half his shots recorded as a Shot on Target.
  • Levante (316) have faced more crosses than any other side n La Liga.

Bet 1 - Real Madrid to win & Both teams to score @ 13/10

This will be a significantly stronger Real Madrid starting lineup than the one that played against Albacete. As unconvincing as they've been this season, Los Blancos have still won eight of their nine home games in La Liga.

The individual quality they have should see them over the line again here. Even without the injured Mbappé, they were 5-1 winners in their last outing at the Bernabéu against Betis. Gonzalo scored a hat-trick in that game, and the 21-year-old's five-goal return has been one of the few positives so far in 2026 for the Spanish giants.

There's every reason to think Levante can get on the scoresheet, though. The hosts continue to be hampered by selection issues at the back, and they've kept just one clean sheet in nine outings in all competitions. It's also worth noting that both teams have scored in all six of Levante's matches against top-seven opponents this term.

Given that, I'm backing Real Madrid to win and Both teams to score at 13/10.

Bet 2 - Carlos Álvarez to have 1+ shots on target @ 11/5

One player who has really caught the eye for the visitors has been Carlos Álvarez. The 22-year-old came through the Sevilla academy, but has found a home at Levante, where he is now one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Most likely operating in an advanced midfield role, Álvarez should find space on the break in this encounter, and he could get into a number of shooting positions. He's hit the target with 42% of his attempts this season, and has had four shots on target in his last four appearances.

At odds of 11/5, I'm backing Álvarez to test Courtois at some stage in this game.
