Hellas Verona vs Bologna Prediction: Rossoblu to get a much-needed win

Hellas Verona remain rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table and they welcome Bologna to Marcantonio Bentegodi on Thursday (17:30 GMT, live on Betfred.com), with the visitors on a seven-game winless run in the top flight.

Team News

Tomas Suslov (cruciate ligament) and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro (muscle) remain sidelined through injury for Verona. Rafik Belghali could come back into contention after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Algeria.

Gift Orban, Daniel Mosquera, Amine Sarr and Giovane will tussle for the two spots up front. The latter has contributed three goals and four assists in his debut Serie A campaign.

Bologna's recent struggles in the league have been highlighted through Riccardo Orsolini. The winger has scored just once in his past 11 appearances, having netted eight in the 11 games prior.

Thijs Dallinga, Santiago Castro and Ciro Immobile will push to lead the line on Thursday. Immobile may have a decent claim, having scored 10 goals in 14 appearances against the hosts, with seven of them coming inside this stadium.

Jhon Lucumi (muscle) and Federico Bernardeschi (collarbone) are ruled out due to injury, while Nicolo Cambiaghi is suspended after receiving a red card against Como.

Bologna have been showing that kind of form themselves recently after going seven league matches without a victory. This contest was postponed due to the Supercoppa Italiana final, which the Rossoblu lost to Napoli.

The visitors could not ask for a better opponent to face right now to get back on track. With Verona struggling to score goals, while also leaking a lot of them, Bologna's attackers should be confident that they can step up and deliver a much-needed three points on Thursday.

I can see Verona putting up a fight, though, as BTTS - Yes appeals to me. This was a successful bet in the previous two meetings between these clubs, one of them being a 3-2 thriller in Bologna's favour in December 2024.

There have also been goals at both ends in each of Bologna's last three away trips in the top flight heading into this clash. For the hosts, both teams have been on the scoresheet in five of their previous eight encounters in Serie A.

With the Rossoblu low on confidence themselves, I think their defence will be feeling a little fragile.
