Nigeria are already safe in the knowledge that top spot in Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations as they face Uganda at Fez Stadium on Tuesday (16:00 GMT, 4seven). The Super Eagles have claimed maximum points from their first two fixtures.

Uganda have just one point to their names so far but a victory for them here could still give them a chance of finishing second. Read on for my Uganda vs Nigeria predictions, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Uganda reported no fresh injuries from Saturday's draw with Tanzania but it is difficult to gauge what the team may look like after Paul Put made five changes last time out.

Following a draw, we may see a more settled XI on Monday, particularly when his side can't settle for anything other than three points to have a shot of reaching the knockout stage.

St Johnstone forward Uche Ikpeazu was the man on the scoresheet in the previous game after coming on from the bench, so he may be considered for a start here.

Football Odds

Nigeria made two changes for their victory against Tunisia last time out, with Frank Onyeka replacing Samuel Chukwueze in the side, while Bruno Onyemaehi came in at left-back for Zaidu Sanusi.

Eric Chelle may opt to rest a lot of his key players given qualification is already secured, so we may see minutes handed to the likes of Paul Onuachu and Moses Simon.

Uganda vs Nigeria Predicted Lineups

  • Uganda: Onyango; Kayondo, Sibbick, Byaruhanga, Obita; Semakula, Mutyaba, Okello; Omedi, Mato, Ssemugabi
  • Nigeria: Nwabali; Osayi-Samuel, Ajayi, Bassey, Onyemaechi; Ndidi, Iwobi, Onyeka, Lookman; Osimhen, Adams

Uganda vs Nigeria Odds

If you think Nigeria will field a second-string side, a Uganda victory may appeal at 13/5. They drew their last fixture and the stalemate is on offer at 21/10.

Nigeria 23/20 (implied probability of 46.5%) to claim the win and make it a clean sweep in Group C.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in the Super Eagles' two Afcon matches so far, and 11/8 is the price on this occasion.

Uganda vs Nigeria Stats

  • Nigeria have won and conceded in their previous two group matches
  • BTTS - Yes has landed in Uganda's two Afcon games so far

Today's Football Fixtures

Match Result - Nigeria @ 23/20

Even if Nigeria make a raft of changes, I still think their fringe stars will have more than enough quality to help them to victory against Uganda. Chelle may also decide to keep some of the star players in the side to further build momentum heading into the knockout stage.

The Cranes will try and make life difficult for the Super Eagles, especially when seeing that Nigeria have only won by narrow margins so far. But with that you could say how Chelle's men have dug deep on both occasions to ensure they came away with the three points, and they can very much do that again.

With the options they have in the final third, the Super Eagles should be able to go out and win again, even if that means having to turn to players on the bench if the team is indeed rotated.

Both Teams To Score - Yes @ 1/1

I think you could guess this was where I was heading for my second selection. With BTTS - Yes landing in the opening two matches for both teams heading into this contest, 1/1 seems like great value for the net to bulge at both ends on Tuesday.

As I mentioned earlier, Nigeria are stacked for attacking options in the final third, so they should have no issues getting on the scoresheet, but while they are outscoring their opponents they do look fragile at the back.

This is something Uganda will look to exploit and in a game that is more important for the Cranes, I think we will see them get in on the action.
