Football Bet of the Day: Can’t turn a blind eye to Villa value

We’ve got a stacked Saturday of Premeir League action given the distinct lack of games on Boxing Day, but that gives us plenty to go at for our Football Bet of the Day.
Chelsea vs Aston Villa (17:30 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event) is arguably the game of the day and has certainly caught my eye.
Football Bet of the Day - Saturday, December 27
- Double Chance: Aston Villa or Draw @ 19/20

I just don’t see how you can back against Aston Villa right now. The Villans have won their last 10 games in a row in all competitions, so I expected them to potentially even be favourites for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
Instead, I look at the Betfred odds with relative disbelief, as Unai Emery’s men have been priced up around 3/1 to make it 11 in a row in the capital. That means, for our Football Bet of the Day, we can use the Double Chance market and simply back them not to lose at around 1/1.
Obviously Chelsea have their own threats in the form of Cole Palmer, and the potential returns of Estevao and Liam Delap will help them out, but their form isn’t great and they’ve only won one of their last outings in the Premier League.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Chelsea have won one of their last five in the Premier League
- Aston Villa have won their last 10 games in a row
That run has included draws against Bournemouth, Arsenal and Newcastle, while they lost away at Leeds in a below-par display. I just don’t know how much I still trust Enzo Maresca with this Chelsea team, while I am all-in on Emery at Villa.
Morgan Rogers looks like one of the best players in the world and it was his brilliant brace that downed Manchester United last time out. Villa are scoring a lot of goals from outside the box (10 of 27 this season), but it is working for them and they look like hitting the back of the net whether Ollie Watkins or Donyell Malen leads the line.
Villa won the last meeting between these two by two goals to one, and this is a really simple selection. But sometimes, you just have to play things how you see them. If the script was flipped - and Chelsea had won 10 in a row - there is no way they would be anything other than odds-on to win this fixture.
It’s time to back Villa to avoid defeat again on December 27.
