Wrexham vs Sheffield United Prediction: Blades can show their mettle

Sheffield United’s promotion push has taken a while to materialise, but the Blades have won five of their last seven second-tier matches and Chris Wilder’s men sit only nine points off the playoff positions ahead of their Boxing Day (17:30 GMT, Sky Sports Main Event) trip to Wrexham.
The Steel City side are starting to show their mettle and it’s only one win in six games for Wrexham. The Reds may have banked enough points to not be looking too nervously over their shoulder at the relegation zone, but Phil Parkinson will be hoping for more from his side on Boxing Day. Read on for my Wrexham vs Sheffield United predictions.

Sheffield United to win @ 6/5
Sheffield United have won five of their last seven Championship games as Chris Wilder gets his side moving in the right direction.
The Blades have beaten Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth, Leicester, Stoke and Birmingham on that good run and Saturday’s win against Blues was a particularly striking result.
Birmingham are a strong outfit and the fact Sheffield United were able to brush Blues aside so easily points to another strong effort against Wrexham.
Of course, Tommy Doyle’s early red card helped Wilder’s men on their way, but the Blades hit 20 efforts on goal and created an expected goals number of 2.80 in that resounding victory.
Wrexham are winless in five games and the Reds only managed one shot on target in a 2-1 loss to Swansea on Friday.
Take the Blades to continue to progress in this game and a 2-0 victory is an interesting proposition at 10/1.

Only Sheffield United to score @ 13/5
Goalscoring is proving an issue for Wrexham and Parkinson’s men may leave The Racecourse empty-handed.
The Reds have scored only eight times in their last nine games and they have been kept out by Portsmouth, Ipswich and Hull on that run.
Wrexham managed only one shot on target at Swansea last time out and Sheff United have the steel to stop the Reds finding the net.
