Team News
Emam Ashour was ruled off in the first half against Zimbabwe through injury, so his availability remains up in the air.
Omar Marmoush will lead the line again after scoring the equaliser in Monday's win, while Salah will also keep his place in attack for the Pharaohs.
As for South Africa, Al Ettifaq forward Mohau Nkota was replaced at half time against Angola so boss Hugo Broos may rotate his attack ahead of Friday's encounter, and give Tshepang Moremi a starting berth.
Burnley striker Lyle Foster will retain his place up top after scoring in South Africa's opening game.
Egypt vs South Africa Predicted Lineups
- Egypt: El Shenawy; Hany, Rabia, Ibrahim, Hamdi; Fathy, Ateya; Salah, Ashour, Trezeguet; Marmoush
- South Africa: Williams; Mudau, Ndamane, Sibisi, Modiba; Mokoena, Sithole, Mbatha; Appollis; Nkota, Foster
Egypt are 19/20 favourites for Friday's contest, giving them an implied win probability of 51.3%, the draw 21/10 and South Africa are 10/3.
Salah is favourite to score anytime at 6/4, and both teams to score can be backed at 6/5.
Egypt vs South Africa Stats
- Five of Egypt’s last six games saw both teams score
- South Africa are unbeaten against Egypt since 2010 (W4, D2)
Bet Builder - Egypt to win and Mohamed Salah to score anytime @ 23/10
Salah got his tournament off the perfect start on Monday, bagging a late winner to give his nation the three points in their opening game.
It feels like the Liverpool star is set to have a brilliant tournament given the uncertainty that's currently surrounding his club career. The Pharaohs have won four of their last five games, and tightened up defensively.
South Africa are also in decent form heading into matchday two - they're unbeaten in five, and have actually won the past three matches against Egypt.
However, I'm backing the Pharaohs to halt that run here and Salah to be leading the charge.
Both teams to score - yes @ 6/5
Both teams know where the back of the net is - Egypt have scored twice in each of their last two matches and South Africa have scored nine goals in their last four games across all competitions.
This bet was a winner in both sides' respective openers at Afcon and with the attacking depth each side possesses, I'm backing it to happen again here.
