15:40 - Somebody @ 2/1

Two-year-olds go 6f in this nursery handicap.

The selection Somebody is a gelding by a high-class Aussie sprinter, and trained by Richard Spencer at Newmarket. He's been denied narrowly at this track the last twice in races of this nature and surely his time is close at hand.

Just 11 days ago he failed by half-a-length, running on, and lines up off the same mark, 67, this afternoon. Regular pilot George Wood is again doing the steering.

16:15 - Reem Rak @ 2/1

Two-year-olds again do battle, this time over a mile, and there's precious little to go on form-wise. I'm going for Roger Varian's filly Reem Rak, a daughter of Zarak, himself the product of a liaison between Dubawi and Zarkava. Some fabulous bloodlines there.

Reem Rak has had two runs - an HQ debut, never getting competitive, over 7f - and then last time, at this track three weeks ago, running a race full of promise to be second, beaten 1.75l to a nice unbeaten-in-two horse of James Tate's at that same distance.

The step up to a mile on breeding alone should be a boon, Jack Mitchell is again on board, and she can go one better in this fascinating novice.

17:15 - Pocklington @ 7/4

Geoff Oldroyd trains this admirably consistent four-year-old Blue Point colt, who tries 7f for the first time. Pocklington went agonisingly close when last seen at Donny in mid-September, going down by a short-head over the quirky distance of 6.5f.

He's gone 6f here readily in the past, including two course wins, and tends to finish his races well. He's sprint-bred all right but there's a 7f/1m influence on the dam's side as she was by Monsieur Bond, who for example won a G3 , readily, over 7f at the Curragh.

The trip should be fine, and he's talented. This is a lovely race and really is one to savour.

17:45 - Heavenly Heather @ 10/3

Experienced handicap sprinters go 6f, and our selection is a four-year-old Shamardal filly trained by Tracy Waggott at Spennymoor in County Durham.

Heavenly Heather has scored just once in 13 career starts - here, back in April, at 200/1! She's been running well without quite adding to her tally of late, especially last time in a race of this nature here 16 days ago.

She failed by just a neck, pressing all the way to the line, and the excellent Tom Eaves was on top. He renews the partnership today and up just 2lb in the handicap has a cracking opportunity to register win number two; though not quite as spectacularly priced on this occasion.

If all four of our selections won, today's notional 50p win Lucky 15, at the prices indicated (they can of course fluctuate), would return around £150 for a £7.50 total stake.
