Rangers’ stumble towards a much-needed January transfer window continues on Saturday when they face Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership at Rugby Park (20:00 GMT, live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event).

After successive draws against Falkirk and Dundee United, Danny Rohl’s side meet another team for whom one point has become a common outcome. My Kilmarnock vs Rangers predictions are below, complete with full team news and Betfred’s latest match odds.

Team News

Stuart Kettlewell may be tempted to mix things up in his forward line once more, with the three changes he made against Hearts on Wednesday having eventually led to Bruce Anderson coming off the bench to net a late equaliser.

Anderson and Scott Tiffoney could both come back in from the start, with a further decision to be made as to whether Marley Watkins or Tyreece John-Jules begins in the number-nine role.

Gers boss Rohl is likely to change it up again after a dominant performance against Dundee United wasn’t converted into three points.

There may well be a recall for Mohamed Diomande, while the much-maligned Youssef Chermiti is available again after injury. He could be considered if Rohl desires a hold-up presence outside the box.

Any one of Chermiti, Danilo and Bojan Miovski could be chosen in the main striking role.

There is increasing clamour for one or both of Findlay Curtis and Lyall Cameron to get a run of starts.

With the likes of Thelo Aasgaard and Djeidi Gassama not performing at 100 per cent, and Mikey Moore and Oliver Antman injured, Curtis could be given the shirt on the right of the attacking midfield line.

Kilmarnock vs Rangers Predicted Lineups

  • Kilmarnock: Oluwayemi; E Brown, Mayo, Deas; J Brown, Thomson, Lowery, Thompson; Anderson, John-Jules, Tiffoney
  • Rangers: Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Fernandez, Meghoma; Raskin, Diomande; Curtis, Bajrami, Gassama; Danilo

Kilmarnock vs Rangers Odds

Rangers are the clear favourites with Betfred at 3/5, with Killie 9/2 to collect just a third win of the season.

The draw is a 3/1 bet and it’s 4/5 for both teams to score.

Miovski and Danilo are best backed for the opening goal, with both at 4/1 to break the deadlock.

Kilmarnock vs Rangers Stats

  • Rangers’ three main strikers – Chermiti, Danilo and Miovski – have four goals between them all season, and none have scored in the last 715 minutes of Gers games
  • Kilmarnock haven’t won in eight, but have at least drawn the last two after a six-game losing streak
  • Killie have drawn two and lost six of the eight matches in which they have conceded first-half goals

Today's Football Fixtures

Draw @ 3/1

One has to believe that Rangers’ difficulties will end at some point. Yet the more you watch them, the more their issues are laid bare.

They were abysmal against Falkirk last Sunday, creating almost nothing in the entire game. They were even hanging on by the end.

Then on Wednesday at Tannadice they were far more creative, with a great tempo about their game. And yet they were awful in both boxes.

It took a worldie from distance by left-back Jayden Meghoma and a late, late penalty from Nedim Bajrami to earn a point.

No matter how a Rangers game is playing out, you just never get the feeling they are about to score. So while they should have all the running against Killie, there are no guarantees.

When they last met, both Danilo and Chermiti scored in a 3-1 Gers win, but that was the exception that proves the rule for a failing forward line.

And they may have to settle for a point once again at Rugby Park, with 3/1 a great price considering these sides have totalled 14 draws between them this season.

Football Odds

Nasser Djiga to receive a card @ 9/2

While Kilmarnock shouldn’t have the majority of the ball, Rangers’ soft centre ought to give them almost as many clear chances as they’ll give up. And the Gers’ backline is makeshift to say the least.

In Nasser Djiga they have a centre-back who can appear commanding at times, but who has a definite rick in him. As Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Tannadice evidenced, he can find himself scrambling to make up for errors at times.

So looking at the cards market on Betfred.com and seeing Djiga listed at 9/2, implying an 18.2% probability, comes as a big surprise. The Wolves loanee is great value at that kind of price.
