Metz vs Rennes Prediction: Three in a row for Embolo

Friday night football in France's Ligue 1 this week (19:45 GMT, Ligue 1 Pass) comes from the Stade Saint-Symphorien, where hosts FC Metz take on Stade Rennais. The visitors have recovered admirably from a six-game winless run, claiming a hat-trick of victories this month to move up to sixth, and while Metz achieved three consecutive wins themselves before the international break, a defeat last weekend has left them second-bottom (17th) ahead of Friday's fixture.
Below are my Metz vs Rennes predictions, accompanied by all the latest team news and match odds.

Les Grenats are 13/5, or a 27.8% chance, to record a third consecutive victory at the Saint-Symphorien, with Rennes priced at 1/1 (50%) to chalk up a fourth straight win, with the draw available at 13/5.

Price Boosts - Metz To Score 2+ Goals, Rennes To Score 2+ Goals @ 7/2 9/2
This looks like an interesting boost.
Metz have scored twice in six of their 13 league games this season, netting exactly two goals in their last four.
Les Grenats have also conceded 2+ goals on seven separate occasions, including last Sunday at Brest, when they lost 3-2.
Rennes, meanwhile, have scored 2+ goals in seven of their 13 Ligue 1 matches this term, notching exactly four times in two of their last three, and have conceded at least twice in six.
The above selection was a winner the last time these sides met, in May 2024, when Rennes won 3-2 at the Saint-Symphorien, and although that fact weighs very little here, it's an interesting footnote all the same.
The main reason for backing this Price Boost is that these are two in-form sides who have been in free-scoring form, particularly Rennes, who have struck twice in five of their last seven games, conceding exactly two in the first four of this run, with three 2-2 draws recorded.

Anytime Goalscorer - Breel Embolo (REN) @ 13/8
Swiss striker Breel Embolo made the switch from Monaco to Ligue 1 rivals Rennes during the summer and has made a solid start to life at Roazhon Park, netting four times in 10 league appearances (seven starts).
After scoring in back-to-back games against Paris FC and Monaco, the 28-year-old will be looking to strike in a third consecutive match on Friday.
Embolo was also on target for his country earlier this month, opening the scoring in Nati's 4-1 victory over Sweden.
With Metz shipping a league-high 30 goals this season, he'll back himself to notch at least one here.
