Arsenal vs Bayern Munich Prediction: Can Kane upset Arsenal’s defence?

Arsenal are riding high at the top of the Premier League and after their 4-1 hammering of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, are now six points clear at the top of the table. On Wednesday night, they return to Uefa Champions League action as Bayern Munich visit the Emirates Stadium (20:00 GMT, TNT Sports 1).

Team News

Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Odegaard both missed the weekend win over Spurs and are unlikely to feature again in this one, so Mikel Merino is likely to deputise up front with Kai Havertz also out. 

The German has suffered a setback in his recovery from knee surgery, but Arsenal were handed a boost by the return of Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke at the weekend. Gabriel has a hamstring issue and will miss out so we can expect Piero Hincapie to keep his place in what should be an unchanged XI. Hat-trick hero Eberechi Eze will hope to make another big impact.

Football Odds

Bayern Munich wil be without Luis Diaz for this one after the former Liverpool winger was sent off against PSG and handed a three-match ban in this competition. Serge Gnabry should return here from his knee injury, while Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies are both sidelined. 

Harry Kane will lead the line once again while 17-year-old Lennart Karl could be in line for another start given he bagged a goal and an assist at the weekend.

Arsenal are priced at 23/20 to win this game on home soil, which gives them an implied win probability of 46%. Bayern Munich are 9/4 to take the win. 

A draw can be backed at 5/2 while over 2.5 goals is 4.6 and BTTS is 4/7, with Kane the favourite to score first at 9/2. 

Over 3.5 goals @ 7/4

This might be a bit of a boring first selection, but I think it’s a sensible place to start. Both teams have scored in four of the last five Bayern Munich matches and in four of their last seven games there have been over 3.5 goals. All 18 of their matches this season have seen over 2.5 goals and with Kane up front, they are always going to pose an attacking threat. Although Arsenal have the best defence in the league, I think Bayern can seriously trouble them. 

The Gunners have conceded just six goals in 12 PL matches, but they are without Gabriel and that does weaken them, and they have conceded in each of their last two outings. I think Bayern will take this game to the Gunners and we should see plenty of attacking action at both ends.

Eze was on fire at the weekend and he now has five goals in 18 appearances this term, but with a natural number nine now missing, he looks like the man who is going to step up to the plate. Kane needs no introduction but this season could be his best ever. He’s scored 24 goals in 18 matches for his club and is on five from four Champions League outings. He’s an obvious goalscorer pick to add to the Bet Builder, while Konrad Laimer has been booked five times this season already and could be in for a rough night up against Eze and Leandro Trossard.
