Rangers vs Livingston Prediction: 7/1 Gers to step on the Gas

After a much-needed 13-day break, Rangers are back in Scottish Premiership action against Livingston at Ibrox on Saturday with Danny Rohl looking for a fourth straight league win since taking charge (15:00 GMT).
The Gers’ troubles this season are still reflected in the league table despite their three successive wins and momentum has to be kept up. Check out my Rangers vs Livingston predictions below, as well as full team news and Betfred’s latest match odds.

Team News
Rangers fans will be sweating over the fitness of John Souttar and Derek Cornelius. Both defenders picked up knocks on international duty.
Souttar was injured in the warm-up ahead of Scotland’s incredible 4-2 win over Denmark, while Cornelius limped out of Canada’s friendly with Ecuador with a thigh problem.
If both are missing then Rohl will be left patching up his back line, and any thoughts of returning to a back three could rely on at least one making it on Saturday. Emmanuel Fernandez could step in for a first start since the 1-1 draw at St Mirren in August.
Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Rabbi Matondo are all expected to be back available after spells on the sidelines.
Stevie May was a very early withdrawal for Livi in their draw with Falkirk before the break, so Andrew Shinnie is among those on standby.
David Martindale will be hopeful of welcoming back a number of long-term absentees over the coming weeks, with Aidan Denholm, Cammy Kerr, Ryan McGowan, Adam Montgomery, Shane Blaney and Connor McLennan all having missed game time.
Rangers vs Livingston Predicted Lineups
- Rangers: Butland; Tavernier, Djiga, Fernandez; Aarons, Barron, Raskin, Gassama; Moore, Chermiti, Danilo
- Livingston: Prior; Brenet, Finlayson, Wilson, Montano; Susoho, Sylla; Smith, Shinnie, Yengi; Bokila
The Light Blues are huge favourites at 1/4, with Livi a 10/1 shot for the win at Ibrox.
The draw is a 5/1 chance, with Rangers 8/11 to win by at least two and 15/8 to get the job done by a minimum of three goals.
Despite having struggled to nail down a spot under Rohl, Bojan Miovski is the 7/2 favourite to break the deadlock on Saturday.
Rangers vs Livingston Stats
- Rangers have won the last six meetings between this pair at an aggregate score of 18-1
- Livi haven’t beaten Rangers in their last 22 attempts (D2, L20, F5, A49)
- Four of Djeidi Gassama’s six goals this season came in his first four games for the Gers, and three of his eight last term for Sheffield Wednesday came in a five-game spell
Rangers 3-0 @ 7/1
I was thinking of hedging my bets and going for Rangers on the +2 handicap at 15/8.
But in the search for value I’m willing to cap my expectation of the home side right there. Because while they have a pretty formidable record in this fixture, the Gers are still not quite at full flight yet after their horrific start under Russell Martin.
Rohl hasn’t found the perfect combination up front, with his lead pressing striker Youssef Chermiti looking painfully out-of-sorts when bearing down on goal. Danilo and Bojan Miovski, meanwhile, haven’t put in the work off the ball to demand starts.
So while they are bound to get goals from elsewhere, I don’t expect four or more out of them just yet. So the 3-0 win at 7/1 hits the sweet spot for me, with an implied probability of 12.5% not telling the full story.

Djeidi Gassama anytime goalscorer @ 13/8
This ought to be a game that will suit Gassama, with a freedom to get at the Livi defence regardless of what exact shape Rohl sets up with.
The Mauritanian tends to score in bunches, and the late goal he scored at Dundee last time out came to much relief from Rangers fans as well as the player himself.
Gassama has the pace, skill and fearlessness to make chances for himself, and I back him to net against a Livi side who are likely to arrive in G51 with men behind the ball from the off.
