US Horse Racing Tips: Paul marks your Thursday card

Our Stateside expert, Paul Quigley, is back to deliver his Thursday US Racing Tips, which takes us to Mahoning Valley, Aqueduct and Horseshoe Indianapolis for his latest selections.

20:03 Mahoning Valley (Race 7) - Praise N Glory @ SP

Parlay (4) figures to be a worthy short-priced favourite. In her last four starts, she’s won twice and been placed in two other stakes events. They were on the turf but she has won on the dirt before. Provided she is not dragged through fast and contested early fractions, she will be hard to beat. Presuming she is a skinny price, there may be some upside in trying to beat her.

The most obvious candidate is Praise N Glory (6). She is an improving three year old who upset a stakes field here last month. Looking at the placed horses, there seemed no fluke in that performance.

Drills Wild Brat (5) comes off back to back condition race victories sprinting. She did win her only start over a mile and is three from three at Mahoning Valley. With the right trip, she is very dangerous. Miz Keeta (8) is less obvious on paper but may reward each way support.

She ran too good to lose to Mobil Chic (2) in this race last year. The winner can’t be dismissed but she hasn’t raced since June.

22:17 Horseshoe Indianapolis (Race 10) - Eltinge @ SP

The majority of this field are stepping up to a mile from sprint races. Sahara Hottie (1) has the best form. She upset the best two-year-old filly on the grounds in a stakes event here last month. Smokinghot Justice (4) was back in third.

The blinkers she wore for the first time really improved her. She draws well and runs as if today’s distance will suit. There are a lot of things to like about her with the possible exception of her price.

Eltinge (6) lost to Sahara Hottie (1) in a maiden when she was making her career debut. She’s improved gradually since with a stakes runner up last time. She is bred to come into her own over a trip. At the likely odds, she may be the play.

Spirited Anne (2) comes off a wide margin conditions race victory at Hawthorne. She draws best of the speed types and is dangerous if she makes the lead on her own. Tiz Wine Time (10) and Liam's Charge (11) have trickier posts. Both fillies have won their only starts to date. The pair may have any amount of improvement in them.
