Football Bet of the Day: Betis to get back on track

Saturday's Football Bet of the Day was disappointing as Swansea fought back to equalise against Charlton Athletic in the Championship to deny an Addicks victory. Onto Sunday's selection now, and while there is nowhere near as many games on offer, I am drawn to the La Liga clash between Real Betis and RCD Mallorca (20:00 GMT, Premier Sports 1).

Betis are winless in their last two league outings but they have won three of their five home games this season. They are 8/15 to come out on top here.

Mallorca's latest result was a draw with Levante on home soil and the stalemate is priced at 3/1. The visitors are 11/2 to come away with the three points.

Mallorca forward Vedat Muriqi has five goals in La Liga this season and he is 11/5 to strike anytime on Sunday night.

After two games without a win, Betis have dropped out of the top six and they cannot afford to fall further behind when their ambitions will be to be in the top six as a minimum this term.

Boss Manuel Pellegrini has been at the club for five years now and there have been plenty of times where he has inspired the team to overcome a blip in form. Being back at their (temporary) home of La Cartuja is a good place to get back to winning ways, especially against a side who are sat just outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Mallorca have had an underwhelming start to the campaign but their form has been improving in recent weeks. Los Pirates have won two of their past four matches in the top flight, losing just once.

They are clearly growing in confidence and they can certainly pose a few problems for their hosts. Muriqi is a player in particular Betis need to keep a close eye on. He may be in a struggling side but only three players in the division have netted more goals than him right now.

The home side may start a little nervy after going two league games without a win but I think they will soon grow into the game and take control because they have plenty of quality in their side, particularly in the final third.

Mallorca's defensive record isn't the best but it also isn't the worst. The visitors have shipped 15 goals this term - while Betis have leaked 12 themselves. I think Los Verdiblancos will be able to get back on track here but I think it will end up being a hard-fought victory - and perhaps one goal might be the difference.

So my Bet of the Day is Betis and over 2.5 goals. This is because over 2.5 goals has landed in 80% (4/5) of Mallorca's away trips in La Liga this season and I think we will see this trend continue for them on the road.

It is when they are at their most vulnerable defensively, having conceded nine goals on their travels. Over 2.5 goals has also been a successful bet in two of Betis' home matches in the league.
