Leicester City started the season well under Marti Cifuentes but one win in their last eight games has seen them drop to 10th in the Championship table. They will fancy their chances as they host Blackburn Rovers in the early kick-off (12:30, Sky Sports Main Event).

Rovers stunned Southampton last time out but sit 21st in the league and look to be in for a rough ride this term. Below you can find my Leicester vs Blackburn predictions featuring team news and more.

Team News

Leicester lost 1-0 to Millwall last time out and so Cifuentes could try something different. He’s unfortunately without Aaron Ramsey, who picked up a hamstring issue in that defeat, so there’s a gap in the number 10 position that needs filling.

Stephy Mavididi could be brought back in after 16-year-old Jeremy Monga was given a start at The Den, but Mavididi could play at number 10, with Abdul Fatawu on the right. An alternative option is Patson Daka who could partner Jordan Ayew in attack, or Julian Carranza could come in to strengthen the attack.

Hamza Choudhury and Oliver Skipp were both unused substitutes and could feature, with Harry Winks and Jordan James losing the midfield battle against Millwall.

Football Odds

Blackburn could welcome captain Todd Cantwell back into the fold after his knee injury but he is unlikely to start, while Hayden Carter also remains out. It means manager Valerien Ismael could name a similar XI to the one that beat Southampton, however, it might not be that simple.

The game changed when Ismael made a triple substitution on 67 minutes, with Ryan Hedges, Axel Henriksson and Kristi Montgomery all making a good impact on the game. They are pushing for starts but Andri Gudjohnsen and Yuki Ohashi should continue up front after the Icelandic international scored a vital late winner.

Leicester vs Blackburn Odds

Leicester are the 5/6 favourites to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 55% for this King Power clash. Blackburn are priced at 10/3 to take all three points while a draw is 13/5.

Over 2.5 goals is 1/1, BTTS is 10/11 while Daka, Ayew and Mavididi are all 5/1 to score first.

Leicester vs Blackburn Stats

  • Leicester's last four home games have seen under 2.5 goals
  • Blackburn sit 21st in the Championship

Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11

I can’t see this one being a very entertaining game, even though the last two Blackburn games have seen over 2.5 goals. Leicester are an interesting proposition right now, with Cifuentes getting some criticism for being quite boring at the moment. Certainly at home they have failed to impress and each of their four games since the opening day win over Sheffield Wednesday have seen under 2.5 goals.

Three of those have ended in draws, and they aren’t blowing anybody away right now, with Millwall keeping them out in their last away game. Rovers haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last six but at the same time they rarely get blown away, with a 2-0 defeat at league leaders Coventry now looking respectable. I think they can go to Leicester and put in another hard-working performance, with under 2.5 goals the first selection on Saturday lunchtime.

Correct score Leicester 1-0 Blackburn @ 11/2

I think there’s value backing a correct score in this fixture for a number of reasons. First of all, neither side has a stand-out goalscorer and so I am steering clear of that market, especially at the start of the three-game week.

Ultimately, I think this will be quite the stagnant encounter, but Leicester have more individual quality in the form of Fatawu, Mavididi and Monga. I think one of that trio will provide a moment of magic that will earn the Foxes a vital three points. Anything less than a win will heap the pressure onto Cifuentes’ shoulders.
