Horse Racing Tips: Bay of Brilliance can follow up at Redcar

There’s loads happening on Monday, with seven meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland. Every racing fan has something to look forward to as there’s Flat turf, jumps and all-weather action on the agenda. Lingfield is the first fixture to get underway in the afternoon and is swiftly followed by Redcar, Galway, Wexford and Bangor. The evening’s entertainment is provided by Newcastle and Wolverhampton, with the last race going off at 8.30.

We’ve picked out three of our strongest fancies to follow across Monday’s cards and they include a Ralph Beckett-trained horse who showed significant improvement to get off the mark last time out and is expected to step forward again.

13:30 Redcar - Bay Of Brilliance @ 4/6

There are eight races at Redcar on Monday and the third of which is an interesting novice over 1m1f. Seven runners have been declared and the most likely winner appears to be Ralph Beckett’s BAY OF BRILLIANCE, who managed to score at Goodwood last month.

The two-year-old showed some promise when finishing fifth in a Class 2 novice at Newbury on debut and the 7f trip was always going to be inadequate. He’s a half-brother to Willie Mullins’ Ebor and County Hurdle winner Absurde, so stamina will be the name of the game.

It’s therefore no surprise that he produced a significantly better performance over 1m2f at Goodwood last time out. Outbattling Charlie Appleby’s Study Of Words that day, the runner-up went on to win a maiden by 15 lengths on his next start.

Beckett’s colt probably won’t need to improve much on that form, if it all, and it’ll be a surprise if he fails to get the job done.

14:06 Galway - Mr Tony @ 9/4

Conditions are set to be pretty gruelling at Galway on Monday, with the ground officially described as heavy. Not all horses will be suited by that but Joseph O’Brien’s MR TONY is one who shouldn’t be inconvenienced in the slightest.

The son of Kodiac showed little in three starts in maiden company but there were some more positive signs when fourth on handicap debut at Bellewstown. His stablemate was dominant on the day and the run looks much better if you take the winner out of the race.

Stepping forward again over this trip on heavy ground at Gowran next time, he produced a powerful finishing effort to get up on the line. The handicapper has responded with a 6lb rise but there could be more to come in this sphere and a big run is anticipated.

16:30 Bangor - Court In A Storm @ 15/8

COURT IN A STORM ran a fair race to finish second on debut in a Huntingdon bumper in April 2024 and he improved on that effort to win by nine lengths at Ludlow six months later.

Lady Kluck was a well beaten third that day and she boosted the form by winning next time.

Connections sent him over hurdles for the first time at Hereford in April and battled on well to beat Don Virgina by a neck. That was his first start for 183 days and he followed up after a similarly long break at Uttoxeter this month, scoring by three lengths.

He makes his handicap debut here and an opening mark of 118 looks very reasonable. There should be loads more to come and it’s unlikely that we’ve seen the best of him just yet.
