Horse Racing Tips: Aprahamian has plenty of chances

A total of six meetings take place across the UK and Ireland today, with action kicking off at Clonmel, followed by Ludlow, Nottingham, Fontwell, Southwell and Chelmsford.

We’ve picked out three bets to follow this Thursday afternoon, which include a couple for Billy Aprahamian, whose stable appear to be in very good form.

15:30 Nottingham - Harswell Duke @ 17/2

It’s been over three years since Harswell Duke last got his head in front, that success coming at Doncaster off a mark of 83.

He’s proved a consistent performer in defeat since, finishing runner-up on four occasions and has gradually eased down the weights to a mark of 59.

A proven mudlark, all four of his career victories have come on soft or heavy ground and he often saves his best efforts for testing conditions.

He’s shown enough in two placed efforts this year to suggest another win isn’t far away and, with his handicap mark now looking very workable, this could be the right time for him to strike.

Back at a track where he’s tasted success before, conditions look ideal for him to end his long losing run and can reward patient connections with a win to finish off the flat season in style.

15:15 Fontwell - Plus Point @ 9/4

The Billy Aprahamian-trained Plus Point makes his handicap debut on seasonal reappearance, having signed off last term with a promising second in a Worcester novice in May.

The five year old showed steady progression throughout last season and looks the type to continue improving with experience.

While returning from a break always carries a small question mark, the yard have made a bright start to the campaign, already sending out a winner who was also returning from an absence.

Plus Point has shown a likeable attitude in his races and appears well treated on his opening mark.

With conditions in his favour and further improvement likely, he looks a major player and could easily make a winning start to his new campaign for a stable that continues to go from strength to strength.

16:37  Ludlow  - Pep Talking @ 6/4

It could be a great day for Aprahamian, with Pep Talking also appearing to have a strong chance at Ludlow.

The seven-year-old is a model of consistency, finishing in the top three in seven of his last eight starts, including four victories.

He’s already had a run this season at Huntingdon, where he produced a solid effort but found Zestful Hope too strong on the day, though he comfortably finished clear of the remainder.

His mark remains unchanged, giving him every chance, and with that recent run under his belt and the stable in good form, he looks the one to beat in this contest.

With his proven record of holding form once fit, another bold showing looks highly likely.
