Football Bet of the Day: Goal trend to continue for Alaves and Valencia

A new week begins but the recent weekend's footballing action concludes on Monday. West Ham United vs Brentford takes centre stage in the Premier League, while there are also games taking place in Serie A and La Liga. The latter is where I am turning my attention to for my Football Bet of the Day as Alaves host Valencia (20:00 BST, Premier Sports 1).
Find out what I have selected below in what is expected to be a fascinating contest.
Football Bet of the Day - Monday, October 20
- Alaves vs Valencia - Over 2.5 goals @ 11/8
*Odds correct at time of publication
Alaves won their last league match, which came on home soil against Elche. They are 5/4 to come out on top on Monday night.
After losing their past two outings in La Liga, Valencia are 5/2 to come away with the three points. The stalemate is marketed at 21/10.
Arnaut Danjuma (Valencia) and Carlos Vicente (Alaves) have both bagged three goals apiece in La Liga this season, and they are both priced at 3/1 to strike at any time at Mendizorroza.

Three points separate the two sides heading into this clash, with Alaves in 11th and Valencia sat 15th. The visitors are in need of improvement as they have only managed to put two wins on the board from the opening eight rounds in La Liga.
Boss Carlos Corberan did excellently last season to steer the Blanquinegros to safety after they had just won two of the 17 games played before his arrival at Christmas.
They have had a slower start than expected this term but he is expected to turn their fortunes around. However, my Bet of the Day does not focus on any aspect of the result in this contest with Alaves.
Instead I am looking at the goals the two sides can produce because they have both had a habit of being involved in fixtures where goals have not been in short supply.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in 75% of Alaves' home league games
- Three or more goals have been scored in 75% of Valencia's away matches in La Liga
Over 2.5 goals looks a smart play for Monday night's action because it has been a common trend for both clubs but in different circumstances - but that is what makes it appealing for this clash.
Alaves have seen at least three goals scored in 75% of their home games (3/4) in La Liga in 2025/26, while this same return is accurate for Valencia'a away trips in the top flight to date.
The hosts' last match was played here and there were four goals as they defeated Elche 3-1, while three goals were produced in the defeat to Sevilla in their prior game on home turf. For the visitors, over 2.5 goals has landed in each of their previous three away fixtures in the league, and they have conceded 10 goals across those games, six coming against a rampant Barcelona.
Corberan will be hoping for more defensive solidity from his players but Vitoria-Gasteiz is going to be a tough place for them to go. The Babazorros have won two of their four games at home, losing just once, and they have scored seven goals here to date.
Valencia have looked competitive in their last few games despite failing to win in their last three. They need to be more proficient on the road, having managed to score just three times in four matches. I think there could be a goal on offer to them here, but I am expecting the bulk of the work for this selection to be carried out by the home team.
