Horse Racing Tips: Elliott’s runner won’t Fold at Punchestown

There's flat and jump action to look forward to on Wednesday with five race meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland. For my Daily Double I have my eye on runners at Nottingham and Punchestown, with both horses in excellent form.

15:44 Nottingham - Senor Cortez @ 4/1
Eight runners are declared for this 2m Class 4 handicap at Nottingham for the Colwick Cup. On the face of it, it seems like an open contest as there are a few horses who head here with decent claims based on recent form.
One of them is SENOR CORTEZ, who has gained my favour here. The four-year-old gelding got off the mark at the seventh time of asking at Yarmouth (1m6f) in August. It was a race won comfortably as he was nine lengths clear of Dereham.
This was preceded by an impressive second-place display at Southwell (AW, 1m6f)) in July. Yarmouth's taste of success whet his appetite for his latest appearance at Lingfield (AW), where he demonstrated further improvements by winning over two miles.
The son of Sea The Stars heads to the East Midlands with a strong hat-trick bid and connections should be feeling good about his chances in this field.

16:05 Punchestown - Western Fold @ 11/8
My second selection is another bidding to extend their winning streak on Wednesday - WESTERN FOLD for Gordon Elliott's yard. The six-year-old gelding is in fences action at Punchestown, participating in this Grade 3 Chase over 2m7f.
Like Senor Cortez, this horse has shown considerable improvements this season since finishing second at Clonmel (2m4f) in March. Western Fold has looked in his element over staying trips.
He prevailed in a beginners' event at Tipperary (2m71/2f) in May, before further successes at Ballinrobe (2m71/2f), Galway (2m61/2f) and most recently at Gowran Park (2m4f) on October 4.
The son of Westerner has already posted three victories over this trip and he will once again be steered by Danny Gilligan, who has been on board for the past five outings. Connections will be hoping this duo will deliver another winning cocktail.
