Over 2.5 Goals Tips: 8/1 acca for Saturday’s games

Saturday’s football action focuses once again on the key European qualifiers, as the 2026 World Cup edges closer and closer. We’ve also got League 1 and League 2 fixtures during this international break, giving us plenty to go at for Saturday’s Over 2.5 Goals Tips.

Norway vs Israel (17:00) @ 2/5

Norway are finally living up to the hype. Having Martin Odegaard (although now injured), Oscar Bobb, Alexander Sorloth, Thelo Aasgaard, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Aune Heggebo as attacking options is pretty remarkable - and of course then we have to come to the best striker in the world, Erling Haaland. 

Norway have won five from five in qualifying, scoring 24 goals and conceding just three in the process, with one more win set to take them to the World Cup. Haaland now has a ridiculous 48 goals in 45 international matches, and nine in seven for Man City this season. He, and Norway, should have a field day against Saturday’s opponents. 

Portugal vs Republic of Ireland (19:45) @ 1/2 

Portugal have looked really good so far in this qualification campaign, with two wins out of two, eight goals scored and just two conceded. Cristiano Ronaldo is seemingly desperate to win the World Cup next summer at the age of 41 and Portugal certainly have a squad to go the whole way. 

Both of their matches so far have seen over 4.5 goals, while Ireland have drawn 2-2 with Hungary and lost 2-1 to Armenia - seeing over 2.5 goals in both of their outings too. The gap in quality is large, and this should be a rout for the home side.

Spain vs Georgia  (19:45) @ 2/5 

One of the best teams in the world, Spain, have won two from two in qualifying, scoring nine goals without concession. They are wiping the floor with every team they face right now, and I expect them to hammer Georgia, and given the visitors have seen over 2.5 goals in both of their qualifiers - we should get goals. 

There’s no Lamine Yamal, but expect the depth of their squad to shine through in this World Cup qualifier.

Luton Town vs Huddersfield Town (15:00) @ 10/11

Back to club football now, and Luton Town’s demise has been truly remarkable. They were the obvious favourites to win League 1 at the start of the year having suffered a double relegation from the Premier League straight down to the third tier, but after a poor start left them in 11th, manager Matt Bloomfield was sacked. 

Still managerless at the time of writing, they lost 3-1 to Cambridge United in midweek, and their next test sees them face a talented Huddersfield Town outfit. The Terriers are sixth under Lee Grant, and 55% of their games have seen over 2.5 goals, the fourth-highest figure in the league. With the Hatters now more open than ever, we should get goals. 

Chesterfield vs Salford City (15:00) @ 4/6

We finish our selections with an intriguing League 2 clash between Chesterfield and Salford City. Both Chesterfield and Salford have seen over 2.5 goals in 64% of their matches this season, which ranks them third and fourth respectively for that particular stat in the fourth tier. 

Chesterfield’s last three results have been 6-2, 4-1 and 2-2 so there are goals and defensive fragility in this side, while Salford have seen over 2.5 goals in four of their last five in League 2. I think this should be an entertaining clash at the top of League 2.
