Wrexham vs Birmingham Prediction: Red Dragons can profit from Blues’ struggles

Wrexham picked up an impressive point at Leicester City in the Championship in midweek. Next up for the Red Dragons is last year's League 1 rivals Birmingham City, who they welcome to the Racecourse Ground on Friday (20:00 BST, Sky Sports Football).
The Blues salvaged a late draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday but it was another disappointing performance, which has been a common theme when playing away from home this term. Read on for my Wrexham vs Birmingham predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
After scoring from the bench in midweek, Nathan Broadhead will be hoping to start for Wrexham on Friday, potentially at the expense of Josh Windass.
Kieffer Moore will continue to lead the line and his physical presence will likely cause Birmingham lots of problems as many of their recent goals conceded have been self-inflicted.
Ben Sheaf and George Dobson are set to man the engine room against the Blues, with Lewis O'Brien operating higher up the field.
Jay Rodriguez (ankle) and Andy Cannon (cruciate ligament tear) remain sidelined for the hosts through injury.
Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright (both knee) remain sidelined for the visitors, and they are now joined by Ethan Laird, who picked up a hamstring injury at Coventry City last weekend. Boss Chris Davies has revealed that the full-back is set to be out of action for a couple of months.
Keshi Anderson is reportedly closing in on a return to action but it remains to be seen whether Friday will come too soon for him. Willum Willumsson looks likely to miss out again with an unspecified issue.
The Blues picked up a couple more concerns in midweek as Bright Osayi-Samuel and Jay Stansfield picked up knocks. Should the former miss out, Alfons Sampsted may be brought in from the cold to play at right-back.
Jack Robinson is available for selection following his one-game suspension.
Wrexham vs Birmingham Predicted Line-ups
- Wrexham - Okonkwo; Cleworth, Hyam, Brunt; Kabore, Dobson, Sheaf, Longman; Broadhead, O'Brien; Moore
- Birmingham - Allsop; Sampsted, Klarer, Robinson, Cochrane; Iwata, Doyle; Roberts, Dykes, Gray; Furuhashi
Wrexham are yet to win at home in the Championship but they are 7/4 to come out on top here. They have drawn their past two matches and the stalemate is valued at 9/4, which has an implied probability of 30.8%.
Birmingham are 6/4 to collect the three points, but they have won just one of their four away trips in the second tier this season.
Both teams to score has struck in 88% (7/8) of Wrexham's league matches, including all four of their home fixtures . BTTS is priced at 4/5 on Friday.
Wrexham vs Birmingham Stats
- Birmingham have lost their last three away games
- BTTS has struck in Wrexham's past four Championship matches
- Kieffer Moore (WRE) has four goals in eight league games
Double Chance - Wrexham or draw and both teams to score @ 6/4
Wrexham may not have won at home in the league so far, but with the way Birmingham are playing at the moment, they won't have a better chance to land a win at the Racecourse.
The Blues turned in another flat performance in midweek and they have not really played well since the opening night against Ipswich Town. Davies is already coming under fire because his side have failed to register a shot on target in their last two away trips.
And despite having 20 shots against Wednesday last time out, Birmingham rarely tested goalkeeper Ethan Horvath. It was a disappointing home display but it is on their travels where they are currently serving their worst football.
When they came to the Racecourse in League 1 last season, they were fortunate to come away with a draw, and I think this will be the best case scenario for them on Friday.
Wrexham's physicality will cause plenty of problems, but they will need to be clinical when they are on top. Birmingham may be struggling but they have a habit for scoring late, with three goals scored past the 90th minute in the Championship in 2025/26.
I think Wrexham or draw is the play, and given how frequently BTTS has struck in their games this term, it's worth adding to the selection to boost the odds.

Kieffer Moore anytime goalscorer @ 2/1
Defensive errors have been costing Birmingham a number of goals this season and so Wrexham striker Moore will be rubbing his hands together to face them on Friday.
The towering Welshman's physicality will give the defenders a tough time and he has already bagged four goals in the Championship this term, with three of them coming at home.
I think he can play a big role for Wrexham on Friday and he may be the hero who helps them secure their first home win of the campaign.
