There are four Sunday race meetings across Britain and Ireland with lots of quality action in store.

At Doncaster, the Betfred St Leger Festival concludes with day four – a family fun day on Town Moor – while in Ireland, it's day two of Champions Weekend, this time at the Curragh. There are also Flat meetings from Bath and Musselburgh. Our three leading fancies for Sunday's Horse Racing Tips are below, with the focus on Doncaster and the Curragh.

Horse Racing Tips - Sunday, September 14

  • 14:30 Doncaster – Indian Springs @ 3/1
  • 15:50 Curragh – Gstaad @ 10/11
  • 16:25 Curragh – Al Riffa @ 2/1

14:30 Doncaster – Indian Springs @ 3/1

It's hard to get away from INDIAN SPRINGS for Charlie Appleby in the Betfred City Of Doncaster Handicap over 7f.

The Too Darn Hot gelding could scarcely have been more impressive in his novice successes at Newmarket and Haydock over this trip.

He's back from a short break now and the handicapper has posed a question, for sure, but the Godolphin inmate may prove equal to it with Billy Loughnane in the plate for a trainer that entered the weekend boasting a recent strike rate of nearly 31 percent.

15:50 Curragh – Gstaad @ 10/11

The Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes is one four Group 1s at the Curragh on a card of stunning quality.

Leading the charge in this two-year-old contest is GSTAAD for Aidan O'Brien, one of three runners for the Ballydoyle handler in a field of six.

The Starspangledbanner colt won the Coventry at Royal Ascot in June on second start and his only run since saw him going down a short-head behind unbeaten filly Venetian Sun in the Prix Morny at Deauville. She lines up in the Moyglare earlier on this card.

Gstaad was eating into her lead at the line in France and promises more now stepped up to 7f. Unbeaten UK raiders Saba Desert (Charlie Appleby) and Zavateri (Eve Johnson Houghton) will offer a challenge but this promising colt can answer it.

16:25 Curragh – Al Riffa @ 2/1

Joseph O'Brien saddles AL RIFFA in the Irish St Leger, the Owning Hill trainer attempting to take the measure of his father's Goodwood Cup runner-up Illinois and the unbeaten Royal Ascot winner Amiloc for Ralph Beckett – amongst others – in what sets up as a cracking contest on paper.

Al Riffa has always been held in the highest regard by his connections and the Wootton Bassett colt now looks in a position to reward their faith as a stayer.

He sparkled when winning the Group 2 Curragh Cup over course and distance in July, coming five lengths clear of a good yardstick in Shackleton.

There's likely more big days in him at this sort of trip and he won't mind the likely soft ground. Jockeys' championship pacesetter Dylan Browne McMonagle looks set to play his ace card for the weekend here.

16:25 Curragh - Winner
Al Riffa
