Nap of the Day: Wednesday’s Nap runs at Cork – big chance

One solitary meeting on Wednesday, but it's a belter. We're heading to Cork, over in Ireland, who are hosting a seven-race card which starts at 16:10.
The contest I'm most interested in is the 16:40 - here's the thought process behind our nap of the day selection.
Nap Of The Day - Wednesday, September 10
- 16:40 Cork - Strike Zone @ 5/6
16:40 Cork - Strike Zone @ 5/6
The race is a two-year-old maiden, and some big yards are represented. Ger Lyons trains Strike Zone, a Mehmas colt out of a Gleneagles mare, but inmates from Aidan O'Brien, Jessie Harrington, Joseph O'Brien and Noel Meade are among those looking to score.
The selection has enjoyed one run to date, a 5f Navan maiden 13 days ago. He ran very well, held up, and finished to good effect 2.75l behind the winner Amiata, ironically also trained by Lyons.
On board the winner was Colin Keane, Juddmonte's fairly new retained jockey - and a frequent collaborator with Lyons down the years. Today Keane rides Strike Zone, and his chance is surely an obvious one.
There's almost certain to be improvement for this second racecourse experience, and today he gets an extra furlong to get organised and competitive. His sire Mehmas began his racing career at 5f but soon showed Group-winning ability at six.
Colin can get this one home, and fingers crossed price-wise that there's some solid market interest in his opponents. I guess I'd be delighted if we can stay the right side of evens or thereabouts - time will tell.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
