We’ve got a batch of international football coming our way on Tuesday as the European nations strive to book their place at the World Cup next summer. England are almost there but face a tough away test against Serbia, while the Republic of Ireland are also in action as they play their second match in Group F.

Below you can find my Football Accumulator Tips as we search for a winner.

Serbia vs England - Draw (19:45 BST, ITV1)

England have been unimpressive under Thomas Tuchel, but they are in a strong position to qualify for the World Cup next year. They’ve picked up four wins from four so far, scoring eight goals without conceding - so on paper it is going well, but they’ve not really been tested.

Serbia sit on seven points behind them, so a point would see England top the group and secure their spot at the 2026 World Cup. Given the hosts are unbeaten in their last seven and have kept four clean sheets in a row, I think this is a really tough assignment for the Three Lions - however, they should be able to secure the draw they need.

It’s all about getting to the tournament for England, and then Tuchel will hope to go one step further than Gareth Southgate managed to.

Football Odds

France (H) to beat Iceland with -2 handicap (19:45 BST, Amazon Prime)

France got their qualification group off to a winning start with a 2-0 away win against Ukraine, and they look well set for another straightforward campaign en-route to the World Cup. Next up they host Iceland, and the gap in quality between the two nations should be clear.

Iceland secured a massive 5-0 win over Azerbaijan in their first qualifier, but Azerbaijan are in a bit of a pickle right now - more on that later. Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olise and Desire Doue should have a great night on home soil, and I’m expecting a big home win to boot.

Today's Football Fixtures

Portugal (A) to beat Hungary (19:45 BST, Amazon Prime)

Cristiano Ronaldo got on the scoresheet again for Portugal as they secured a 5-0 win over Armenia in their opening qualification match, and they will want to go deep into the World Cup next summer. We say it every four years, but surely this is Ronaldo’s last chance at the biggest prize in sport - as he will be 41 by the time the tournament kicks off.

He’s still a decent goalscorer, but in truth it is the remarkable squad around him that could carry him to success. Bruno Fernandes, Joao Neves and Vitinha are three of the best midfielders in the world, while Nuno Mendes also won the Champions League with PSG. They should go far, and I’m expecting them to register an important away win against Hungary on Tuesday.

Republic of Ireland (A) to beat Armenia (19:45 BST, Amazon Prime)

The Republic of Ireland did well to come from two goals down on home soil to rescue a draw with Hungary - after the visitors were reduced to ten men. Heimir Hallgrimsson is hoping to steer his side to the World Cup next summer, and they are now unbeaten in their last five outings.

They have to go to Armenia and win if they are serious about securing a top-two finish, especially given they share a group with Portugal. Armenia conceded five goals last time out and have now conceded 18 in their last four, so Ireland should be able to take advantage of a tepid defence and secure all three points.

Ukraine (A) to beat Azerbaijan (19:45 BST, Amazon Prime)

Let’s finish by backing Ukraine to go to Baku and beat Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan are seriously struggling at the moment and yet the odds don’t seem to reflect the fact they are now one of the poorest countries in Uefa qualifying. Their last competitive win came in November 2023, and since then they’ve lost 6-0 to Sweden, 3-0 to Haiti and last time out, they were hammered 5-0 by Iceland.

Ukraine are a strong outfit that will hope to make it to the World Cup, and I’ve got no doubt that they should be able to comfortably cruise past this Azerbaijan outfit that is seemingly unable to put in a competitive performance.
