After an embarrassing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby Town in midweek, Manchester United welcome newly-promoted Burnley to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon (15:00 BST), hoping to get their first three points of the new Premier League campaign.

Scott Parker's side arrive at the Theatre of Dreams with some momentum behind them after a 2-0 win over Sunderland last week, and you can find our Manchester United vs Burnley predictions, as well as the latest team news and match odds, below.

Team News

United will be without long-term absentee Lisandro Martinez, who continues to recover from a knee injury, while Noussair Mazraoui remains in the treatment room with a thigh problem.

After rotating his side in midweek, Ruben Amorim looks set to shuffle the pack once again - and that may see Andre Onana replaced between the sticks by Altay Bayindir, although both goalkeepers have endured difficult starts to the season.

Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw look set to return to the defence, while summer signing Benjamin Sesko struggled to make an impact in his first start against Grimsby, so Amorim may deploy Mason Mount in a false nine role once again.

Manchester United vs Burnley Stats

  • Manchester United have lost just one of their last 25 home games against Burnley across all competitions
  • Burnley are unbeaten in their last two outings

As for Burnley, Zeki Amdouni, Manuel Benson, Connor Roberts and Jordan Beyer all remain sidelined through injury, while former United players Axel Tuanzebe and Hannibal Mejbri could start against their old employers on Saturday afternoon.

Kyle Walker is expected to retain his place at right back, and last weekend’s goalscoring duo Josh Cullen and Jaidon Anthony are pushing for a recall after being rested in midweek.

Manchester United vs Burnley Odds

United are 4/11 favourites, giving them an implied win probability of 73.3%, with the draw 4/1 and Burnley are 8/1 to inflict further misery upon Amorim and his side.

Sesko leads the anytime goalscorer market at 21/20, while Michael Obafemi is the shortest-priced for the visitors at 4/1.

Double Chance - Draw or Burnley @ 2/1

United's cup exit away at Grimsby on Wednesday night increased doubts surrounding Amorim's tactics and his infamous three-at-the-back system. Failure to pick up three points at home to Burnley would only add more fuel to the fire.

We think that Saturday will be another miserable at the office for the Reds. Amorim has been chopping and changing his goalkeepers which only unsettles the rest of the team, and neither Onana and Bayindir have covered themselves in glory.

United need a quickfire response to forget about Wednesday night, but we can't see that coming against a Burnley side that will be smelling blood. The Clarets bounced back from an opening-day defeat to Spurs will a solid 2-0 win over Sunderland before seeing off Derby in the Carabao Cup.

For all of United's issues, they've lost just one of their last 25 home games against Burnley in all competitions, so we're going to back the Draw-Burnley double chance market.

Player to have 2 or more shots on target - Matheus Cunha @ 11/10

Despite United results, Matheus Cunha's performances in a red shirt have been encouraging since his summer transfer from Wolves - and Amorim's side are still creating chances.

The Brazilian has been lively in all three of United's matches this season, and has looked their biggest goalscoring threat.

Cunha hasn't been afraid to have a pop at goal, with the shot count for his last three matches reading four, three and six. We're backing the former Wolves man to have two or more shots on target at the weekend at 11/10.

This isn't a short-term trend either - at Wolves last season, in the 28 league games where Cunha started and played at least 46 minutes, he managed three or more shots in 16 matches.
