Lucky 15 Tips: Fitting Friday winner for those famous old silks at Salisbury?

Superb fare from Salisbury on Friday evening - a six-race card that kicks in at 17:13.

17:43 - Evie Ross @ 3/1

Two-year-olds from some good yards go 6f in this restricted novice stakes contest.

Our selection Evie Ross took a 5f Chepstow maiden comfortably 10 days ago and she bids to follow up under a 6lb penalty for that success.

She's sprint-bred and this 6f trip should hold no terrors. Interesting that connections look to take in another novice and trainer Clive Cox is a master strategist with his juveniles.

After Hector Crouch (for the win) and Dave Probert have had the pleasure of riding her we now get Tom Marquand in the saddle - no half measures, bookings-wise. Top-drawer only.

18:13 - Gunalt Wavelength @ 2/1

Michael and David Easterby raid from Sheriff Hutton, North Yorkshire, with their two-year-old filly by Make Believe out of an American-bred mare.

Her sire was unbeaten at two so there's plenty to live up to - though Gunalt Wavelength has faced the starter four times so far and is yet to register.

Last time out, at Wolves 10 days ago, was her best performance so far. Beaten less than a length she steps up to a mile here from 7f and with Make Believe a Group 1-winning miler you'd have to hope that if she's not quite (at least yet) anywhere near that level, the possibility of staying this far is strong.

Cracking little heat.

19:13 - Satavia @ 5/2

Trainer Ralph Beckett, jockey Rossa Ryan, and those famous Juddmonte silks. Shades of their Arc winner Bluestocking - and here's another beautifully-bred filly connections can dream about as to where she might just end up. A daughter of Siyouni out of a Nathaniel mare no less.

Satavia faces five geldings in this 10f novice after two green, unspectacular reconnaissance efforts on the track in May and August. They won't have rushed her I'm sure and connections will be as a bare minimum looking to get a win in the credit column for future breeding purposes. I'm sure the penny will drop nicely sooner rather than later.

She gets an extra 2f today and of course receives a little bit of weight from the boys, too. Fascinating contest.

19:43 - Solar Pass @ 7/2

Extremely fitting that these famous old colours should feature this week - those of owner Paul Mellon (now registered under the banner of the Kingsclere Racing Club); carried by the great Mill Reef, Arc and Derby hero, with the mighty Geoff Lewis on top, who passed away this week aged 89.

Solar Pass is a three-year-old filly by another Andrew Balding inmate Phoenix Reach, and the whole Kingsclere Stud picture is complete courtesy of dam Highland Pass (who also raced in these colours) who was by another Balding charge Passing Glance.

Our selection has one win from seven starts so far, and what I particularly like is that her last outing 18 days ago at Kempton was just about her best to date.

Over 11f she ran on well to hunt up the winner Miss Wong (beaten 1.5l) and has been raised just a pound for that. She gets an additional 3f today and with her sire third in the St Leger that should be right up her street too.

Brilliant race with which to bring down the curtain for the evening.
