Lucky 15 Tips: Racing League, live on ITV4, from Southwell

It's the final fixture - the 2025 Racing League reaches its climax at Southwell on Thursday, and the ITV4 cameras are in position to bring us all the action LIVE.

It all kicks in at 17:45, there are SEVEN races, and I'm very happy to link in our Lucky 15 tips feature. Hugely competitive fields, great prize money, top jocks - all of which points to an each-way play today for me at least. Should be an absolute cracker!

Each-way terms illustrated per race, as I'm suggesting an each-way Lucky 15 today.

17:45 - Cotswold Cottage @ 12/1 (1/5 odds, 4 places)

The opener is a 12f Class 4 handicap, and our selection is a lightly-raced five-year-old in career-high order.

Cotswold Cottage is a mare by a Godolphin-owned Listed-class middle-distance performer, with speed on the dam's side courtesy of her sire Needwood Blade (Palace House Stakes winner).

Last time at Ffos Las 23 days ago she won easily (second run after returning from a 276-day break), and a follow-up bid is 'on' from a 7lb higher mark.

Formerly with Henrietta Knight, she's been with Lambourn trainer Faye Bramley only since July, for those two recent spins, and I'm hoping given the stop/start nature of the last few seasons that there's a good deal more improvement to come.

18:15 - Best Rate @ 8/1 (1/5 odds, 4 places)

Talk of Henrietta Knight and Best Rate appears, to nudge us gently in the direction of memory lane (close enough to Best Mate for poetic licence purposes).

Richard Hannon trains this three-year-old Camacho gelding, nine runs, one win, and a fine effort prior to this 26 days ago at HQ. Only failed by 1.75l, on good to soft ground, and was doing all his best work at the finish (same 7f trip/Class 4 grade). He's been dropped a pound by the kindly assessor, too - didn't see that one coming.

You really need to get home at Southwell - not quite displaying the attritional standards of the old Fibresand days - but stamina is still a top priority. Looking forward to seeing late gains from this one, and has won previously on Tapeta (Wolves), which is a big plus.

Great yard, fine jock (Joe Leavy). Big chance.

18:45 - Sovereign Knight @ 14/1 (1/5 odds, 4 places)

Four-year-old gelded son of Ten Sovereigns, trained by Rebecca Menzies, and ridden by the outstanding PJ McDonald.

Sovereign Knight is three-from-17 all told, and is for me becoming well handicapped. Won off 73 nine months ago and races off a mark of 69 this evening.

Only joined his present yard this month and in just the one appearance so far for Rebecca nine days ago failed by only a neck, in a slightly lower grade (Wolves; Tapeta surface once again).

Value shout, and on an unchanged mark.

20:15 - Charmaine @ 11/2 (1/4 odds, 3 places)

Danny Muscutt rides for trainer James Fanshawe - in an 11f Class 3 handicap.

Our selection Charmaine is a four-year-old filly by Camelot out of a Duke Of Marmalade mare. Course-and-distance scorer, too - added bonus. She's an impressive three-from-11 lifetime, and last won in May off a 5lb lower mark.

However; at around this quirky trip, at Yarmouth in another Racing League fixture five weeks ago, she was less than 3l adrift at the line and was running on resolutely at the death. That kind of stalking trip could be perfect for here, tonight, and she's another with very bright each-way claims at a decent price.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
