Team News

The hosts will be without Vitaly Janelt, Gustavo Nunes and Paris Maghoma, while Ethan Pinnock missed the defeat to Forest and the defender will be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Yoane Wissa's future at the club remains up in the air, with Brentford recently rejecting a fresh bid from Newcastle, and as a result so does his involvement this weekend.

Summer signing Jordan Henderson had to settle for a role off the bench last weekend but he could be given a starting berth here, and Mikkel Damsgaard should be available after the midfielder missed last week's trip to the City Ground due to his wife giving birth to their first child.

Brentford vs Aston Villa Stats

  • Villa are unbeaten in their last seven games against Brentford
  • Villa did the double over the Bees last season

As for Villa, Ezri Konsa is suspended after his red card last weekend, meaning that Pau Torres or Tyrone Mings could start in defence, while Ross Barkley and Andres Garcia are both set to miss out on Saturday.

Emiliano Martinez will return from suspension here after being sent off in the final game of last season, while recently crowned PFA Young Player of the Year Morgan Rogers is set to start in midfield.

Ollie Watkins is expected to lead the line  - the England international has scored in both of his last two away matches against his former club Brentford.

Brentford vs Aston Villa Odds

The Bees are 2/1 to pick up their first win of the season, while the draw is 5/2 and the Villa win is 13/10, giving them an implied win probability of 43.5%.

Watkins leads the anytime goalscorer market at 11/8, and if you fancy goals in this game, over 2.5 goals can be backed at 4/5.

Aston Villa to win @ 13/10

Villa completed the league double over Brentford last term, and we're backing them to repeat the feat here as the Bees look unsettled for the new campaign following some notable transfers.

Wissa looks to have his heart set on Newcastle, Bryan Mbeumo has already left for pastures new to Manchester United and reliable shot-stopper Mark Flekken has headed to Bayer Leverkusen.

Fresh signings have been hard to come by for Villa due to PSR restrictions, but they have enough quality within their ranks to claim all three points this weekend.

Rookie manager Keith Andrews was handed a baptism of fire into the Premier League in last week's 3-1 defeat to Forest and we can see a similar result playing out at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

Morgan Rogers to score anytime @ 12/5

As mentioned above Rogers was recently crowned the PFA Young Player of the Year for a stellar 2024/25 campaign which saw him net eight goals and register a further 10 assists in 37 Premier League outings.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring in a 3-1 win over Brentford in December and also had one ruled out by VAR in the 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture on the road in March.

Rogers can take full advantage of an unsettled Bees backline here and get himself on the scoresheet for a decent price of 12/5.
