Lucky 15 Tips: Smooth riding hoped for Friday

Friday brings with it seven race meetings across the UK and Ireland for us to look forward to. The most appealing action comes from York for the third day of the Ebor Festival, but there are still plenty of other eye-catching races throughout the day.

Below you will find my Lucky 15 Tips for Friday, where I will hope to build on Wednesday's results of one win and two places.

15:10 Newmarket - Angel Shared @ 5/2

We start off in Newmarket for this Class 4 fillies- handicap over 6f. Seven runners have been declared for this contest and there are couple who arrive with decent claims, but none more so than ANGEL SHARED for Steph Hollinshead's yard.

The four-year-old daughter of Harry's Angel is bidding to complete a hat-trick of C&D victories after prevailing here on her last two outings in June and more recently August 8.

This will be a tougher task back in all-fillies company and with a 3lb rise to consider but given the recent success she has had at this track makes her a big player. She will also be reunited with Dougie Costello, who steered her to victory on the past two occasions.

15:35 York - Lady Iman @ 4/1

This Group 1 Stakes race looks to be a very competitive one at the Ebor Festival. There's a stacked field of 17 horses declared for this contest over 5f and there are several boasting strong claims.

I'm drawn to the current favourite, LADY IMAN for Ger Lyons' yard. The two-year-old filly has won four of her five starts to date with her one defeat coming over 6f at Naas, which came after success over this trip at Curragh.

This will be a stronger race than some of the ones she has entered so far but this track does look like it will suit her style and the serious weight concessions from some of her older rivals will only aid her cause.

15:55 Ffos Las - On A Vespa @ 9/4

Over in Wales, ON A VESPA will be looking to get off the mark at the ninth attempt when she contests this Class 6 handicap over 7 1/2f at Ffos Las. The three-year-old filly has shown promise this season as she still awaits her first success, having posted three places in her five starts this season, including at Chepstow last month off the same mark as Friday.

Trainer Jonathan Portman should feel good about her chances here, especially if the first-time cheekpieces can have a desired effect.

19:18 Goodwood - Smooth Silesie @ 15/8

Goodwood is where I round off my selections and I like the look of SMOOTH SILESIE for Lisa Williamson's yard in this Class 5 handicap over 5f. The four-year-old filly has been in decent form of late with two wins and two second-place finishes in her past four starts.

The daughter of Smooth Daddy claimed her two victories at Yarmouth, winning by a combined three lengths, while she was runner-up at Ffos Las and Lingfield, losing out the latter by just a neck.

She may be inexperienced at this track but she has good momentum behind her, which should help her despite the 7lb rise since her last appearance.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.25p each-way Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £440 for your total £7.50 stake.
