Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig Prediction: 11/4 Kane to break deadlock

Defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will open their 2025/26 campaign at home to RB Leipzig on Friday night (20:00 BST, live on Sky Sports Football).

Vincent Kompany's side have already claimed a piece of silverware this term courtesy of last weekend's 2-1 win over Stuttgart in the German Super Cup, while Leipzig already have a game under their belt too, beating SV Sandhausen in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. Team News

Jamal Musiala is the notable absence for the champions, with the German star set to be sidelined for several months due to a serious ankle injury.

Summer signing Luis Diaz is expected to start on one of the flanks, with Serge Gnabry on the other, while Harry Kane will be looking to open his account for the season on Friday.

Jonathan Tah will start alongside Dayot Upamecano at the heart of the backline, while Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka will occupy the engine room.

As for Leipzig, Lois Openda will be given the nod up top after Benjamin Sesko's sale to Manchester United earlier this month, supported by the likes of Xavi Simons, Nicolas Seiwald and Xaver Schlager.

Benjamin Henrichs and Tidiam Gomis will both miss out here, but Castello Lukeba and Willi Orban are expected to start for the visitors.

Unsurprisingly, the hosts are 2/7 to claim all three points on Friday, giving them an implied win probability of 77.8%, with the draw priced up at 5/1 and a Leipzig triumph is available to back at 15/2.

Kane is 8/15 favourite to score anytime, while Openda is shortest-priced for the visitors at 5/2.

Bayern Munich to win and both teams to score - yes @ 6/5

Kane admitted last week that there were signs of rustiness in Bayern Munich's performance against Stuttgart, mainly due to their Club World Cup participation and short pre-season. So, this could be a good time to play the defending champions.

However, it's difficult to ignore the dominant fashion in which Kompany's side ended last season in, reclaiming the league title with a 13-point cushion over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.

In addition, the Bavarians beat the Red Bulls 5-1 in the corresponding fixture last term, and despite injuries to key players like Musiala, Bayern should have enough attacking talent to make a statement here at home.

We'll back the Bayern win but also both teams to score, as the visitors could take advantage of any rustiness from the hosts, and they also managed to score at the Allianz Arena last year.

Harry Kane to score first @ 11/4

We did originally look at a Kane anytime goal but his price is simply too short to consider, so we're going with the former Spurs man to net first at 11/4.

Kane netted 26 goals in the Bundesliga last term and it goes without saying that he's one of the deadliest marksmen in the division.

The England skipper opened the scoring last weekend against Stuttgart and he'll be eager to open his account for the new campaign.
