Lucky 15 Tips: Make a Point on Thursday

We are treated to seven race meetings across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, which includes day two of the Ebor Festival at York. I'm back with some more Lucky 15 Tips for you to consider, hand-picking what I consider to be some of the best bets across all the day's race cards.

15:00 York - Bullet Point @ 3/1

There is a stacked field of 18 runners declared for this Class 2 handicap over 2m and there are a few notable contenders that would be worth a punt, but for me it is Bullet Point who appears to be the best bet.

The William Haggas-trained four-year-old gelding has shown steady progress in handicaps over this distance and he got off to a great start on his reappearance at Newmarket in April, defeating Tribal Chief by three-and-a-quarter lengths.

This was followed by two impressive second-place finishes at Ascot, the first being part of the Royal Ascot Festival in a field of 30. The son of Advertise is set to go up 3lb ahead of this outing but it shouldn't impact him too much. The renewed partnership with Tom Marquand should also help, with the duo combining on the past three occasions.

15:10 Lingfield - Starsong @ 5/1

Off to the all-weather track at Lingfield next for this Class 5 fillies' handicap over 6f. Eight runners are declared for this one and there are a couple who have decent claims. The obvious candidate is Michael Attwater-trained Twirler who is bidding to land a hat-trick of successes, but it is STARSONG for Michael Appleby's yard who I think could offer better value, particularly as an each-way selection.

The six-year-old daughter of Starspangledbanner may not be competing to complete a hat-trick but she made her breakthrough on turf last time out at Brighton (1m), while she is a five-time AW winner. She could be a big player her given her impressive form record this season which reads: 32321.

15:55 Newton Abbott - Sergeant Fury @ 9/4

Someone who has has recently completed a hat-trick of victories is SERGEANT FURY for Harry Derham's yard, and the five-year-old gelding is now looking to make it four wins on the spin as he heads to Newton Abbott on Thursday.

All three of those triumphs have come over two miles, which he will contest in this Class 4 handicap hurdle. The son of Diamond Boy boasts the strongest form of this five-horse field and I am expecting another strong performance from him.

20:15 Newcastle - Flag Of St George @ 10/1

AW action at Newcastle is where I round off my selections and I would consider this to be my bet of the day. FLAG OF ST GEORGE is competing for a third consecutive victory and he heads here with plenty of momentum behind him.

The Jane Chapple-Hyam-trained gelding made all as he landed his second career success at Ascot in July before following up with a win at Chepstow on his latest appearance earlier this month, winning by six lengths.

He steps back up to 1m, having been competitive over this trip in the past but he is now in a stronger position and he is set to be a big player in NE3 for this Class 3 handicap.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
