Two wins from their first 16 Premier League games resulted in Wolves sacking head coach Gary O'Neil in mid-December, with Vitor Pereira tasked with leading the Old Gold to survival, which he did in some style.

But, following the departures of two key players, can the club be expected to improve on last season's 16th-placed finish, or is another campaign of angst on the agenda?. Below are Betfred's Wolves Premier League Odds, and a discussion on how things may unfold for Pereira's side.

Wolves Premier League Odds

Prediction: 16th

Matheus Cunha (15 goals, six assists) and Rayan Ait-Nouri (four goals, seven assists) starred for Wolves in the Premier League last season, but both have been lured to Manchester this summer - Cunha by United, and Ait-Nouri by City.

That's some serious firepower and creativity taken out of the side, while skipper Nelson Semedo (Fenerbahce) has also left Molineux, and his leadership skills will be missed.

There's a lot to like about the signing of Colombian attacker Jhon Arias (Fluminense), who has been joined in the forward areas by Fernando Lopez (Celta Vigo), while David Moller Wolfe (AZ Alkmaar) is the replacement for Ait-Nouri at left wing-back.

However, the Old Gold still look light in several areas, not least at right wing-back, and supporters will hope for a busy end to the transfer window, otherwise another battle for survival looks likely.

Transfer Business:

In: Jhon Arias (Fluminense), David Moller Wolfe (AZ Alkmaar), Fernando Lopez (Celta Vigo).

Out: Matheus Cunha (Manchester United), Rayan Ait-Nouri (Manchester City), Nelson Semedo (Fenerbahce), Goncalo Guedes (Real Sociedad), Pablo Sarabia (Al-Arabi), Chiquinho (Alverca), Craig Dawson (free agent), Tommy Doyle (loan, Birmingham City), Nasser Djiga (loan, Rangers), Boubacar Traore (loan, FC Metz).

Key Player: Jhon Arias

Cunha has been Wolves' talisman in attack for the past two seasons, so replacing the Brazilian was always going to be a difficult task.

Arias, a more direct attacker, is a different player from Cunha and has never hit double figures for goals in a league campaign.

Football Odds

But the 27-year-old can drag a team up the pitch, winning fouls for fun, and those qualities could prove vital for the Old Gold in their quest to, first and foremost, achieve survival.

Arias is instrumental for Fluminense in their run to the semi-finals of the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup, and he could be key to keeping Jorgen Strand Larsen, who found the net 14 times in the Premier League last season, in the goals.

Prediction: 16th

I like Pereira, and he has a handful of top-10 Premier League players on his hands, namely Strand Larsen, Joao Gomes, Andre, and, potentially, Arias.

But they still need to make more signings, in my opinion, particularly in defence, as they shipped 69 league goals last season - only the three relegated clubs conceded more.

As things currently stand, I'm struggling to move them up the table, and instead, I'm backing them for another 16th-place finish.
