Nottingham Tips: Feel the Force on Thursday

With seven race meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, we are spoilt for choice. There's a six-race card at Nottingham which has grabbed my attention, and I have picked out my best bets from the East Midlands track.

14:20 Nottingham - Snow Berry @ 9/2

The card gets underway with a Class 5 handicap over 5f, and the runner who jumps out at me is four-time course winner SNOW BERRY for Michael Appleby's yard. The seven-year-old mare has enjoyed plenty of success at Nottingham, with three of he four triumphs here coming over this trip - one of which came in June.

She finished runner-up in this race 12 months ago behind Frank The Spark, losing out by one-and-a-half lengths. She has impressed since returning to action in May, having placed in all three of her starts, which have all come at Nottingham.

The daughter of Dragon Pulse did not look as comfortable on her last outing over 6f, but she did improve after a messy start. The return to 5f will suit her well based on her previous two appearances over this distance in NG2.

15:50 Nottingham - Triple Force @ 11/4

Since June, TRIPLE FORCE has showcased good form in his last four starts which reads 1132. The first victory came here, the same 1m 2f trip he will contest on Thursday in this Class 5 handicap.

This was followed by success at Beverley over the same distance but a step up to 1m 4f at that same track a couple of weeks later ended with a disappointing third of five. Returned to 1m 2f last time out at Redcar and the four-year-old gelding looked a lot more comfortable.

He returns to Nottingham 2lb well in and I think he will be in the mix once again.

16:55 Nottingham - Optimatum @ 5/2

The final race of the day is where I conclude my selections. This is a Class 5 handicap over 1m 1/2f and nine runners have been declared for this one. There are a couple to keep an eye on but it is OPTIMATUM for Charlie Johnston's yard who has my favour.

The three-year-old has shown progress in the last two months with a victory at Leicester (1m) and a second-place finish at Newmarket (1m) on his latest outing. There was a second appearance at Leicester in between which left more to be desired but there is more progress expected from him in Nottingham on Thursday.

The son of Wootton Bassett is hoping to land his second career success over this trip and his current form suggests he has strong claims.
