Brighton Tips: Sadie hoping for more success in Sussex

There are seven race meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, giving us plenty of action to get stuck into. There's a six-race card at Brighton which has caught my eye, and I have picked out my best bets from the day down in Sussex.

14:10 Brighton - Heer's Sadie @ 15/2

The day's card begins with this Class 6 handicap over 1m. Eight runners are declared for this contest and there are a few who have decent claims. I like the look of HEER'S SADIE for Julia and Shelley Birkett's yard.

The seven-year-old mare is hoping to show improvement after a disappointing and surprising ninth out of 11 on her last appearance at Yarmouth, having triumphed there on her previous two outings.

Connections will be hoping her last performance was an anomaly and if she can rediscover the form just before that race, she should be a strong contender here, where he does boast strong form (three course victories).

14:40 Brighton - Miakoda @ 10/3

For my second selection, I am turning to a familiar face in MIAKODA, who I backed for success at Epsom last week, with the three-year-old gelding finishing second behind Rajinoora.

That was a trip over 7f, which he will contest at Brighton on Thursday in this Class 5 handicap, with nine other horses to contend with. His last showing at Epsom was promising as he was striving to land a second consecutive success. It was a strong run from the son of Blue Point, he just conceded late on.

This is something trainer James Owen will be hoping to tweak ahead of his first visit to Brighton. There's a lot to like about Miakoda and I think he will be there or thereabouts on Thursday.

15:40 Brighton - Lexington Knight @ 3/1

I round off my selections with LEXINGTON KNIGHT, for Richard Hannon's yard, who contests this Class 4 handicap over 1m 4f. The seven-year-old gelding heads here with strong claims after back-to-back victories here (C&D) and more recently Salisbury.

The son of Night Of Thunder won this race 12 months ago and he is in great shape to defend his crown based on current form. He made all on his latest run at Brighton, managing to hold on at the end by a neck.

It was a different story at Salisbury last time out as he rallied late on to claim the victory. He now boasts six wins over this trip, two of them coming here, so his chances are looking favourable.
