Football Bet of the Day: 4/1 Spurs worth considering

With the new Premier League campaign just around the corner, Tottenham Hotspur continue their pre-season preparations on Thursday (17:30) against German giants Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, and that game will be the focus of our Football Bet of the Day for Thursday.

The Bavarian side are only just getting back into the swing of things after competing at the Fifa Club World Cup over the summer, while Spurs are preparing for a Uefa Super Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain next week.

Thursday marks the start of a new era for Spurs, as they begin life without Son Heung-min after the South Korean played his final game for the club in his homeland against Newcastle United, ahead of his move to Los Angeles FC.

However, the London outfit will cross paths with another club legend as Harry Kane is expected to suit up for Bayern after playing just 45 minutes since the Club World Cup in the USA.

As mentioned in the introduction, Spurs take on PSG in the Super Cup next week, meaning that this is their final friendly before that contest in Italy. Thomas Frank is still adjusting to life at the Lilywhites - while they did beat Arsenal in Hong Kong, that is their only win in four, drawing with Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town and Newcastle.

With that said, I'm backing Spurs to win this game against Bayern side who's pre-season schedule has been a bit disjointed due to their Club World Cup commitments. As a result, the German giants will probably still be managing the fitness of a number of players, and they have another friendly lined up against Grasshoppers before their own domestic campaign gets underway.

Although Spurs lost both of their friendly meetings with Bayern last summer, both of those defeats were by a single strike, and as big price underdogs here, we think they're worth a flutter on Thursday.

Bayern are obviously the stronger unit, but with the Premier League just around the corner, as well as the aforementioned Super Cup meeting with PSG, the Spurs squad will be motivated to impress their new gaffer ahead of the new campaign, and Frank will probably select a side he intends to use against the European champions next week.

In addition, the hosts are still bedding in several new faces to the team, including the likes of Jonathan Tah, Tom Bischof and Luis Diaz, and along with the fitness not quite being there for Vincent Kompany's side, backing Spurs at 4/1 to win seems like the way to go on Thursday.
