Horse Racing Tips: Sixth time lucky for Clegane?

We are on day five of seven at Galway on Friday while there is plenty of racing over in the UK also with six meetings.

We have three fancies for Friday’s action with the selections coming from Galway and Newmarket, including one at Galway who looks to have a great opportunity to register a first win over fences.

17:30 Galway - Sandor Clegane @ 13/2

This beginners chase looks a great opportunity for SANDOR CLEGANE to get off the mark over fences at the sixth attempt.

He has raced five times over fences to date and boasts some good Novice form, finishing behind the likes of Spillane’s Tower and Fact To File.

Last season he campaigned over hurdles, and despite running well numerous times, failed to finish with his head in front.

This son of Fame And Glory now looks to have a lot in his favour with more experience than most of his rivals over the larger obstacles, and better form over fences than the rest. He has raced off a mark of 145 over fences previously, which is more than can be said for his rivals.

Although he hasn’t won since April 2023, he should be good enough to return to winning ways in this field.

18:20 Newmarket - Holbache @ 5/2

Twelve are set to go to post for this sprint handicap at HQ, and there are a few relatively unexposed three-year-olds who are likely to be well fancied to win. It is however at the other end of the age spectrum where the winner is more likely to come from in the form of seven-year-old HOLBACHE.

The gelding has won on two of his last five starts - which includes a success last time out - and both of these on ground officially described as Good To Soft. There has been plenty of rain around the country this week which boosts the chances of Holbache further.

Julie Camacho’s seven-year-old has previously had a career high rating of 73, and with conditions likely to suit, an official rating of 58 looks to be very much on the lenient side, and he can take full advantage.

20:40 Galway - Lagoon Nebula @ 10/1

A competitive handicap concludes the card at Galway and as a result we are likely to get a good price about our fancy LAGOON NEBULA.

Of late she has been found running over 2m round Chester but that has appeared to stretch her stamina and a slight drop to 1m6f should suit the daughter of Ulysses.

The form of her most recent fourth is working out well with the winner going on to score subsequently, albeit over hurdles.

If she puts her best foot forward she could be too good for the rest of the field, coming from a good draw in stall three.
