Leicester Tips: Wednesday could be Bright

Day two at the Glorious Goodwood Festival headlines Wednesday's racing action in the UK and Ireland, but there are four other meetings taking place, and with Goodwood already covered here at Betfred Insights, it is Leicester where I turn my attention to.

17:55 Leicester - Four Adaay @ 3/1

This six-race card gets underway with this Class 6 handicap over 6f, and there are eight runners declared for this one. FOUR ADAAY for Rod Millman's yard is the one who catches my eye.

The seven-year-old mare's season has seen real progress since June, having had a rather disappointing May. She posted a third-place finish of 14 at Windsor before consecutive second-place finishes at Chepstow and Nottingham, having been the favourite in the former.

She is sneaking back up the weights but is looking in good shape ahead of her first visit to Leicester since October 2023. Four Adaay holds strong claims here, and I think this contest may play into her hands.

19:03 Leicester - Brightling @ 3/1

BRIGHTLING is another representative of Millman's yard who I have a good feeling about on Tuesday. The two-year-old filly is declared for the Class 6 nursery handicap over 5f and she arrives here off the back of some impressive rides on her past three starts.

She landed her maiden success at Lingfield earlier in the month over this trip before triumphing there again last time out, having made all on both appearances. Thos recent performances suggest there is still more to come from her.

Lewis Edmunds is booked for this ride and he steered her to her maiden success at Lingfield, which is worth considering. Brightling carries a 6lb penalty here but I don't think it will impact her chances too much - she will be there or thereabouts again.

20:13 Leicester - Grand Harbour @ 5/2

I round off my selections with Sir Mark Prescott's entry in the penultimate race of the day, which is a Class 6 handicap over 1m 4f. GRAND HARBOUR is chasing his maiden success at the eighth attempt on Tuesday but the signs have been positive in his runs since moving up into handicaps.

The three-year-old has shown promise in that step up, posting three placings out of his four starts, including a second at Ripon earlier in the month. His last appearance came at Salisbury on July 12, where he raced with cheekpieces for the first time and finished second.

He has covered this distance in his previous two outings and has adjusted well, so it doesn't seem like his first victory is too far away and could it come at Leicester? It's his first visit here but he arrives in good shape and decent form, while ground conditions are looking favourable, so he has a good chance.
