Football Bet of the Day: Gers goalscorer offers value

We’ve got the second legs of the second round of Champions League qualifying coming our way on Wednesday and one of these fixtures takes our focus for the Football Bet of the Day.
Rangers travel to Greece to face Panathinaikos, holding a 2-0 lead after the first leg at Ibrox. Read on for Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day.

- Djeidi Gassama to score anytime @ 5/1

Rangers pulled off a stunning bit of transfer business this summer, as they took advantage of a Sheffield Wednesday club in crisis to sign winger Djeidi Gassama for just £2.5m.
It really is a sad state of affairs at Hillsborough right now, with the club in dire straits and the new season now just over a week away. Gassama was arguably their best player last season and one of the standout wingers in the Championship. At just 21, his true value was surely north of £10m so for him to sign for the Scottish Premiership side at a bargain price is a real coup.
He has only just joined up with Russell Martin and his new teammates but he has already shown his class. In the first leg on his debut, he came off the bench on minute 75, and by minute 78 he had already cut inside from the left wing and fired the ball into the top corner.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Gassama scored seven Championship goals last season for Sheff Wed
- Gassama scored three minutes after coming off the bench in the first leg
- Rangers hold a 2-0 lead heading to Greece
Gassama is a class act and I’m really excited to see how quickly he progresses at Ibrox. He bagged seven Championship goals last term, but playing for a more dominant team he could become a serious goal threat north of the border.
That brings me to our Football Bet of the Day, which is backing Gassama to score anytime at a massive price of 5/1 v Panathinaikos. Now I’m not sure whether he will start this game or not, but I still think the value is too good to turn down.
The game state is worth considering, as Rangers hold a two-goal lead and therefore may not be too adventurous in the opening stages, but Martin’s teams don’t tend to sit back and like to dominate possession.
I can understand why the hosts are favourites to win the game over 90 minutes, but Rangers offer good value to progress and they may only need to score once to secure their place in the next round. Out of all of their goalscoring options, Gassama offers the most value and given his record currently reads one goal in 15 minutes for Rangers, let’s back him to find the net again.
