Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from an incredibly disappointing 2024/25 Premier League campaign. The Red Devils finished 15th and also missed out on European football after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur - but Ruben Amorim will be hoping to use that to his advantage as he bids to guide the club back into the top six.

Below you will find my prediction for the upcoming campaign using the Manchester United Premier League Odds.

It was certainly a season to forget for Manchester United, who suffered their worst-ever finish in the Premier League last year.

Ruben Amorim arrived in the dugout part way through the 2024/25 campaign after Erik ten Hag was relieved of his duties, and the 40-year-old struggled to make an immediate impact, winning just six of his 24 matches in charge of the Red Devils in the Premier League.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager did steer United to a Europa League final but that would end in further misery, losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, meaning that there’ll be no European football for the Reds this season – which may be a blessing in disguise.

Amorim emphasised the lack of training time with his players on several occasions last year, and now there’ll be no excuses. United will only have one game a week for the majority of the campaign, which should give Amorim plenty of time to work with his players.

Transfer Business:

Transfers In: Matheus Cunha (Wolves - £62.5m), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford - £65m), Diego Leon (Cerro Porteno - £4m), Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig - £66.3m)

Transfers Out: Marcus Rashford (Barcelona – loan), Daniel Gore (Rotherham United – loan), Victor Lindelof (released), Christian Eriksen (released), Jonny Evans (retired)

The signings of Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo are solid additions, but the midfield quality is still lacking, and Andre Onana surely must be on his final warning given some of his howlers last year.

It wouldn’t be surprising if United’s transfer business has already concluded but the potential sales of the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Tyrell Malacia could open the door to another signing or two before the window slams shut.

Key Player: Bruno Fernandes

United’s talisman continues to be Bruno Fernandes, who was strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford at the start of the transfer window. The Portuguese international has opted to remain at the Theatre of Dreams for at least another season.

During pre-season, Amorim has deployed Fernandes in a more traditional central midfield role in his infamous 3-4-2-1 system, but the 30-year-old’s best work continues to be higher up the pitch – he created more chances (91) than any other player in the Premier League last term.

Prediction: 6th

United can’t be any worse than last season, especially with just having one game a week to contend with. With the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Spurs all having juggle the demands of European football, Amorim’s charges could slot back into that top six at the first time of asking.

The Red Devils will have to start the season strongly with fixtures against Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea all taking place within the first five games of the campaign and given how poor last season was, if United are slow out of the starting blocks this year, things could turn ugly quickly.
