Everton vs Bournemouth Prediction: Summer Series begins

As if we haven’t already had enough pointless football matches played in the United States of America this summer, the Premier League Summer Series gets underway this weekend. Everton will face Bournemouth at MetLife Stadium (21:00 BST, Sky Sports Premier League) as their respective pre-seasons continue.

Team News

All eyes will be on the potential debuts for both teams, with Thierno Barry the big new arrival for Everton this summer. He joined for £25m from Villarreal and brings a new feel to this Toffees outfit, along with Mark Travers and now-permanent arrival Carlos Alcaraz. 

Alcaraz found the net in the new stadium on Tuesday, while James Garner also scored in that 2-1 win over Port Vale. Jarrad Branthwaite hasn’t made it over the pond on this tour having picked up a minor injury while James Tarkowski and Seamus Coleman are also set to miss out for David Moyes. 

Football Odds

We could see Adrien Truffert play for Bournemouth as Milos Kerkez’s replacement while Julian Araujo has now joined up with the squad having played in the Gold Cup with Mexico this summer. 

Alex Scott is also back having won the Euros with England U21s, but Ryan Christie and Enes Unal remain sidelined. Djorde Petrovic could start in goal after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan expired with the Cherries developing a habit of signing goalkeepers from Stamford Bridge. 

Everton vs Bournemouth Odds

Everton are priced at 11/5 to win this game, while Bournemouth are the favourites at 21/20. That gives them a 48% win probability while a draw can be backed at 9/4.

Over 2.5 goals is 4/5, BTTS is 4/6 and Eli Junior Kroupi is the favourite to score first at 5/1.

I will start things off by backing both teams to score in this pre-season friendly. Although sometimes friendlies can often feel a bit dull with nothing riding on them, I think these two will both want to make an impression early on in this Summer Series. With plenty of rotation expected and a few new attackers on show, I’m expecting a decent amount of goalmouth action.

BTTS is my first selection, and I’m keen to take a look at Barry and Beto for Everton. Meanwhile, Kroupi could get some minutes for Bournemouth as he looks to impress, while we all know about the quality of Evanilson already. Let’s have some goals.

I do like the look of this Price Boost as well. Bournemouth finished four places higher with eight points more than Everton in the Premier League last season and they have now established themselves in the top flight. 

Evanilson has been a wonderful addition and bagged 10 Premier League goals last term, as Bournemouth replaced Dominic Solanke with ease. He should be able to find the net once again although as always with friendlies, I only recommend small stakes.
