Midtjylland vs Hibs Prediction: Tough test for Scottish outfit

The second qualifying round of the Europa League comes our way on Thursday evening and there is Scottish interest as Hibernian travel to face FC Midtjylland in Denmark (18:30 BST).
This is the first leg of a two-legged tie and Hibs will want to make sure they are still in with a chance of qualifying when they head back to Easter Road. Below you can find my Midtjylland vs Hibs predictions.
FC Midtjylland vs Hibs Betting Tips
- FC Midtjylland -1 @ 23/20
- Bet Builder - FC Midtjylland to win, Adam Buska to score, over 7.5 corners @ 7/4

Team News
FC Midtjylland played the first game of their league season at the weekend, but they look to be without the services of Cho Gue-sung and Ousmane Diao, with the duo currently sidelined through injury.
Franculino Dju and Adam Buksa scored three between them at the weekend and should continue their strike partnership on Thursday, while Dani Silva and Pedro Bravo may play again at the heart of midfield.
FC Midtjylland vs Hibs Stats
- Midtjylland finished second in the Danish league last term
- They drew their opening game of the 25/26 season 3-3
- Hibs have failed to win their last five away matches
For Hibs, this is the first game of their 2025/26 campaign so we have less to go on, but Kieron Bowie and Martin Boyle are likely to provide the main attacking thrust, just as they did last season. Manager David Gray should employ a back three once again, with Jack Iredale, Warren O'Hora and Rocky Kiranga in line to start at the back.
The Cadden brothers, Chris and Nicky, should play at wing-back while the experienced Junior Hoilett will hope to start on the wing in the attacking third.
Midtjylland are the 4/11 favourites to win this first leg, giving them an implied win probability of 73%. A draw can be backed at 10/3 while Hibs are priced at 11/2 to cause a shock and take a win away from home.
Over 2.5 goals is 8/15 and BTTS is 8/11, while the home side are 9/10 to be leading at half-time.
FC Midtjylland -1 @ 23/20
Midtjylland finished second in the Danish Superliga last season but they will be disappointed to have lost their domestic crown to Copenhagen. The Wolves took a four-point lead into the post-split season but stuttered with three defeats and two draws in their final 10 games, missing out on the title by just one point.
Thomas Thomasberg’s men went two goals down in the opening game of the new campaign but fought back to secure a 3-3 draw against Odense Boldklub at the weekend. I think the return to competitive football will have them slightly ahead of Hibs, who have lost to Ajax, Bolton and Bournemouth in pre-season. They finished third last term but didn’t end the season in good form either, and I can see them struggling in this away fixture.
They’ve failed to win any of their last five away matches and were beaten 8-0 by Aston Villa on aggregate in the play-off qualification round of the Conference League in 2023/24. They’ve done brilliantly well to jump from eighth to third in the Scottish Premiership and qualify for this round of the Europa League, but I’ll back the hosts to win by two goals or more as my first selection.

Bet Builder - FC Midtjylland to win, Adam Buksa to score, over 7.5 corners @ 7/4
A small Bet Builder that is worthy of consideration in my eyes. I won’t go over the reasons for backing Midtjylland to win again and the over 7.5 corners total is relatively low for a first-leg tie like this, given there were 13 in Midtjylland’s first league game of the season.
Buska is their key man up top, having scored 12 in 24 league games last term, while he also found the net in their opening league fixture at the weekend. I think he will find the net in an impressive home win, while the corner selection should also come in at a decent price.
