Lucky 15 Tips: Sangster filly can break maiden at Catterick

Midweek beckons dear reader, and Wednesday's scheduled racing fare is very respectable indeed both in the UK, and over in Ireland.

Love a trip ooooop north, so it's to Catterick's six-race afternoon of fun that we journey, with the action kicking in at 14:30. Competitive it looks too, and all this an integral part of the popular Go Racing in Yorkshire Summer Festival. If you're playing, enjoy!

14:30 - Court Of Stars @ 3/1

Two-year-olds line up for this 7f maiden with some outstanding yards in opposition.

The selection is Ollie Sangster's Inns Of Court filly Court Of Stars, with two promising, progressive runs under her belt thus far and looking more than capable of taking a race of this nature.

First time up - fourth beaten 4.75l in a Donny novice, followed by an improved effort at Brighton (second, beaten 1.25l) in another maiden 15 days ago - both over today's 7f trip.

She's entered here and at Salisbury on Saturday, and if taking her chance I'm very hopeful. Races in the colours of Nick Bradley Racing 15 & partner, with Sam James (a couple of winners last week) in the saddle.

15:00 - Magic Box @ 11/8

Two-year-olds once again, this time in a 7f nursery handicap.

Newmarket handler William Haggas is in tremendous form right now (30% strike-rate over the last 14 days), and he saddles Magic Box here with Cieren Fallon (24%) up.

Five runs so far have yielded notably a win on handicap debut rated 63 (runs off 5lb higher today), and last time five days ago at Hamilton the Showcasing filly was a keeping-on second off her new mark, beaten 1.25l over 6f.

The additional acreage should suit beautifully and she can prevail again for the in-form Somerville Lodge team.

16:00 - Brave Emerald @ 9/2

Tim Easterby is invariably a great supporter of Go Racing in Yorkshire and his three-year-old gelding by Derby winner Masar will be a big threat to all in this basement handicap over his sire's classic Epsom trip of 1m 4f.

Yet to win, this fella, after six starts; but as a consequence Brave Emerald has slipped to a tempting-looking mark of 55 from an opening spot of 63, and it might just be time to strike.

Last time he was staying on at Ripon without quite being able to get involved at the sharp end. It's an ordinary little heat and certainly rates a good opportunity in my book.

16:30 - Bosphorus Rose @ 4/5

Another mile-and-a-half contest - a decent Class 4 handicap but for me containing a standout candidate raiding from Newmarket.

Sir Mark Prescott's three-year-old daughter of Golden Horn, Bosphorus Rose, lines up against just four likely rivals but one is a Charlie Johnston-trained colt (Me And Bobby McGee) who will I'm sure have his admirers. Gets a nice chunk of weight from the Prescott charge, too (6lb).

The selection has won two of her last three and last time over this trip at Epsom 13 days ago she needed every yard to overhaul Masterinthewoods. It was a narrow success, and as a consequence she's only been raised 3lb.

Her trainer is a legend in terms of producing tough middle-distance handicappers and the powerful Arc-winning jockey Luke Morris, for so long associated with Heath House, has the riding assignment.

Slight step up in class, but she can take it in her ground-devouring stride.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
