Horse Racing Tips: Glen can down rivals on Tuesday

A busy Tuesday is forthcoming, with five cards in Britain and Ireland catering for fans of both codes.
The Flat action comes from Beverley, which is the destination for my horse racing tips - featuring an eye-catching handicap debutant.

14:30 Beverley - Monica's Lad @ 6/1
MONICA'S LAD debuts in nurseries off a low opening mark and makes a bit of appeal up in trip for the opening 7½f event at Beverley.
The selection has never raced over further than 6f, but has plenty of milers in his pedigree and this new distance looks well worth a try.
The son of Aclaim has given the impression he needed a greater test of stamina on all three starts, finding an extended 5f too sharp at Chester before showing a bit more on his last two outings to qualify for a mark.
Trainer Tim Easterby also applies cheekpieces for the first time to Monica’s Lad, who can sharpen up for the aid and prove himself up to this grade.

16:00 Beverley - Glendown @ 10/3
Tim Easterby has another decent chance of collecting at Beverley with GLENDOWN in the 5f handicap.
Glendown has dropped to a career-low mark despite the fact he has been running well recently.
The five-year-old produced a promising effort at Ripon over 6f two starts ago, before setting an overly strong pace in a higher-grade race at Pontefract back at the minimum distance last time, unsurprisingly fading into fourth.
Well backed to return to the winner’s enclosure on his previous outing, he could control this from the outset under Duran Fentiman.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
17:00 Beverley - Carolus Magnus @ 13/2
CAROLUS MAGNUS is winless in 13 starts for Michael and David Easterby, but now might be the time to catch him as the 7½f handicap at Beverley is comfortably the weakest race he has contested.
The seven-year-old had a BHA rating of 90 in his heyday a few years ago for Andrew Balding and has dropped to a mark of just 66.
He showed glimpses of promise on a couple of occasions in big fields at York last May, beating 14 and then 12 rivals and shaping better than the result on one occasion in particular after finding his path blocked at a crucial stage.
The selection needs to prove his fitness after over 11 months off, but he ran reasonably well first time out on his return last season in a much better race and this test should suit.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
