Denmark vs Sweden Prediction: Swedes can make a strong start

Denmark and Sweden head for the Stade de Geneve for their opening Euro 2025 clash and it could go a long way to deciding who qualifies from Group C.

Germany are heavy favorites to win the section, with Poland looking outclassed and the battle for a spot in the knockout rounds could be deciding in the Geneva contest between Denmark and Sweden. The Scandinavian sides met in the Nations League just a month ago and it will be interesting to see if that form is upheld in Switzerland. Denmark are boosted by the returns from injury of both Emma Faerge and Signe Bruun.

Emma Kullberg, Evelyn Ijeh and Felicia Schroder were part of Sweden’s Nations League squad, but they haven’t made the cut here, while Rosa Kafaji misses out through injury.

Sweden are strong 4/7 favourites in Switzerland, with Denmark available at 5/1 and the draw a 3/1 shot.

Over 2.5 goals is a 4/5 chance and both teams to score can be backed at 5/6.

Sweden and Denmark met in the Nations League only a month ago and the Swedes were comfortable 6-1 winners.

That rampant victory came in Stockholm, but Peter Gerhardsson’s women also picked up a 2-1 victory over the Red and White in Odense in the reverse fixture and a similar outcome looks likely in Geneva.

Sweden breezed through the playoffs to qualify for Euro 2025 and they were competitive in a tough qualifying section containing England and France.

The Swedes scored 20 goals in four play-off games against Luxembourg and Serbia and Gerhardsson’s women are unbeaten in their last 12 games.

Sweden should be too good for Denmark and they can open the Euro 2025 campaign with a high-scoring success.

Stina Blackstenius to score first @ 4/1

Arsenal striker Stina Blackstenius was behind Alessia Russo in the pecking order for the Champions League winners this season, but the 29-year-old looks a good first scorer option in this match.

Blackstenius scored a hat-trick in Sweden’s 6-1 rout over Denmark in the Nations League last month and she was also on target in the Blue and Yellow’s 2-0 warm-up win against Norway.

She was Arsenal’s top performer in terms of shots on goal and shots on target per 90 minutes this term and Blackstenius won’t need a second invitation to take aim at the Denmark goal.
